NCL Gem Suite Butler tip?

Recommended Posts

Happy 4th! We are avid cruisers, Platinum level Latitudes members sailing in a suite for the first time on the NCL Gem August 31 2012. We normally choose a balcony room, but the price was right for this sailing to get a taste of the suite Life.

My question is regarding the tipping of the Butler. We are not exactly "butler" kind of people but may ask for breakfast to be delivered occasionally, and perhaps a dinner. What is the suggested tip? I really have no idea. Thanks in advance. :)

For a 7 day cruise using the butler an average amount with two people in the room I would tip about $100. Use that as a starting point.

Keep in mind that the Butler also be bringing you all your late afternoon treats, any juices or drinks you may want in your room and keep your coffee well stocked. I agree that $100 for 7 days is a good place to start. I became a Butler person my first trip in the Haven when I asked for pretzel rolls in my room every night and my a pitcher of fresh OJ in the fridge all the time. Only had to ask once.

The Gem is our favorite ship enjoy!

I agree butlers are amazing , mine know I get back from casino late and always prepare snacks and leave them in the room. They have helped me with my ipod problem, they have given me ideas on what to do in port. They become a great assest for my cruise. Worth every penny and more. My concierge has also helped me get on and off ship early for ports make dinner reservations get me a nice seat for a show. Love NCL sweet life

$100 is the least I have left for my butler. A common rule of thumb posted often is $10 a day per person and $5 for the concierge. Down and up from there based on how much or how little you use them

The fact is only you can decide what's the appropriate amount. You will know.

I take that back the least I have tipped a butter was $50 for 16 days. That was too much. NCL let him go 2 weeks later. Just not the right job for him.
