Carnival Glory Boston to Canada 4-day with tons of pictures

Recommended Posts

After our tour, DH and the kids and I sat down on the couches on the Promenade deck (Deck 5) to wait out our room being opened. They told us the rooms would be ready at 1 p.m.

We went down to our room (1275 on Riviera Deck 1) at 1 p.m. and our room steward was putting the finishing touches on our room. We held back in the hall for a bit and then were able to go in. He introduced himself, but I didn't catch his name and wasn't able to all week. I know it started with an H!

DH bought some sodas through the Bon Voyage department before the cruise. He actually purchased them the day before the cruise and I was concerned that that was too close to the sail date, but apparently it was okay!

DH took a nap and the kids watched TV. DD and I went up to Lido to get ourselves and DS some soft serve ice cream (the first of many cones and cups!). We then all wandered around the ship for a bit. Muster drill was at 4:30 p.m. There was a little boy who was freaking out that he had to wear a muster bracelet. He was stomping his feet and he said "I don't ever want to come here again!" Later on in the cruise, DH said he saw the kid without the bracelet. Sigh.

After muster, we registered the kids for Circle C. I handed over the paperwork that we had filled out prior to the cruise by printing out the online documents. The counselor asked me if I was registering for Club O2. I laughed and told her I was 31 and the stepmom of DD and DS. She was shocked and asked me what my secret was. :p It is nice to be mistaken for 17 again!

We then went to the upper decks for sailaway, but it didn't get underway until a little after 6 p.m. and that was our dinnertime, so we only watched for a few minutes.

It was bright (not sunny, but bright) out as you can tell from the squinting!

We were on the same sailing and I have to agree . . . the easiest and fastest embarkation ever. We didn't arrive at the port until noon and we were on the Lido deck within 15 minutes.

Embarkation was by far the easiest embarkation we've ever had! If you punch in 22 Fid Kennedy Ave. into your GPS, it will lead you right to the cell phone lot, which is where Glory cruisers park. Plus there are a lot of signs and security guards/police telling you where to go. Once parked, we waited just a few minutes and then were able to get on the yellow Yankee bus to take us to the cruise terminal a couple blocks away.

First whale tale sighting!

Glimpse of Glory from the cruise terminal:

We dropped our bags off with the porters and filled out a customs type form for Canada. We then got our sign and sail cards. Blue for the kids and red for us (just ONE cruise day shy of being back to gold). We got inside the terminal at 10:15 a.m. and were boarding by 11:15 a.m.! By far the earliest we have ever gotten on a ship!

So funny! We went to Fenway on Thursday, too. It was blazing HOT!!! Quite a difference from the last day at sea (at least the morning and early afternoon).

I wanted to catch DS's and DD's reactions upon entering. I think I captured their awe well. LOL!

That's all for now! I'm exhausted (and sunburnt-no not from the cruise, but from Fenway Park!) so I'm going to bed. It is going to be one long day at work tomorrow. I will post more after work. Let me know if anyone has any questions!

Were all 4 of you in one cabin? How did that work out ? Was it much less then an extra inside cabin?

I was on this same cruise. Looking for me in the pictures. Sorry, I haven't recognized anyone yet.

The cruise was SO Foggy. Fog horns were working for the first sea day up there and the day back, every 3 mins. From breakfast to suppertime. Temp. was 60 in Saint John. Cold and very little sunshine. BUT only a little bit of rain. Then it began to warm up . So that was good. Back onto the ship. Then the next morning, fog. So foggy, we were up in the Serenity area and could not see the smoke stack. Not any of it. Cleared up around 2:30pm on the last sea day to Boston. Then it was bearable.

Embarktation and Debarktation was very fast. I agree, the fastest we have been a part of too.

The ocean water was the smoothest we have seen. Although, we like the Caribbean, blue water. Not the green.

We ate in the Golden Dining Room and met our wait staff: Peter, Senter and I Komang. The kids and I had the chicken a la grecque and DH had the beef brisket. DH and DD had the orange cake for dessert and I introduced my DS to WCMC!

Chicken a la grecque. It had a green tint to it, which I hadn't seen before, but it was delicious!

The Fog Horn - yikes! I never want to hear one again! We were on deck 9 and heard it ALL night long. ALL night! When it cleared up, the weather on deck was pretty nice. The poor residents of Saint John said this is the cloudiest and coolest summer they've had in years. Only 4 sunny, warm days so far.

You can say that again! We all got a bit of a sunburn despite putting on sunblock that morning. We actually left after the seventh inning. Getting back to the car on the T, I wasn't feeling too well at all. I was severely dehydrated despite the two ($4 a piece!) bottles of water and half a lemonade I consumed in the park and Gatorade after the game. Once I got home and drank two glasses of ice water, I felt better.

Yes we were. It wasn't as bad as I thought it might be (sharing a room with two teenagers!). I will post a picture of the pullman bed next.

Oh, man! I feel bad for you! We were on Deck 1 so we only heard it softly every once in awhile.

DD was extremely excited when we got a towel animal each night. She loved them (even at 14 years old!) Heck, I love them at 31! ;)

The ocean was very calm the whole trip. The fastest speed we reached the whole trip was 8.2 knots. Like others have mentioned, the first sea day was very foggy.

The kids went to the Circle C meet and greet, which was held in the Night Club. DH and I sat in the back and watched for awhile. They played a few getting to know you games. Their counselor, Jay, seemed really nice (cute, too! ;) ).

After it looked like they were doing just fine, DH and I left and peeked in the windows. There was a DJ after the getting to know you games and DS is a great dancer and he looked like he was having a great time dancing! DD stood by the wall, but there was another shy girl who stood with her. DH played one game in the nearby video arcade and shortly after, Circle C let out and we all went to the Welcome Aboard Show.

DH and I thought it was weird that the welcome aboard show didn't include any of the dancers. There was just a preview of the comedians, some audience participation and a preview of the Hasbro Game Show.

After the show, we got some late night snacks by the aft pool. I got a mocha chocolate getaway (my favorite drink), but the bartender didn't have any chocolate to swirl in the glass OR any whipped cream. Lame! The fog horn started this first night and was consistently blowing for the first sea day.

I got up at 8:30 a.m. and took a shower. I brought some cinnamon buns down to the family from the Lido deck. Once everyone was dressed, we all went to the Lido deck for breakfast. I waited at the table while DH and the kids stood in line for breakfast. Just the previous night, DH was saying how he has seen a dolphin on a cruise and I hadn't. While I was waiting for them to get back, a man who was sitting near the window said he saw a dolphin. I sprang up from my seat and, lo and behold, I saw three or four dolphins! Of COURSE, I didn't have my camera with me! :( When DH and the kids got back I excitedly told them what I saw. After breakfast, I went back to the room to get my camera while DH and the kids went to the aft of the ship to see if they could find the dolphins, but they were unsuccessful.
