Vancouver Question

We are sailing next Friday on the Radiance from Vancouver. We are arriving by Amtrak at 11:45. I hate to get to the pier in the midst of the crowds.

 

Can anyone suggest a fun place to have lunch either near the pier or near the railroad station?

There are a number of hotels and restaurants within walking distance of Canada Place. Any one of them would allow you to stop and eat lunch and then have a short walk to the ship.

 

Not knowing what kind of food you like I'd suggest going to tripadvisor and see what is within a 10 minute walk and choose which one serves the kind of food you are interested in and gets a good rating.

 

As far as a personal recommendation, there is a Fairmont Hotel across from the pier. You can't go wrong there.

On the pier you can't go wrong at the Pan Pacific. Something less pricy but very well reviewed and right on the water across from the pier is Mahony and Sons faux Irish pub. It shows up on google maps.

 

Both screen shots are frm the pier in front of Mahoney & Sons. The first shows the harbour and mountains. The second shows the dock and Pan Pacific Hotel.

It certainly makes more sense to head straight to Canada Place, drop your bags, then walk to lunch somewhere - but if you feel like splitting the trip in two you could pop into Medina for a very tasty and rather different lunch. They'll easily be able to give you a big table you can fit with your suitcases as they have daytime access to the seating in their 'big brother' Chambar - and the queues for lunch are very short, unlike the weekend brunches where folks will stand outside for up to an hour to get their hands on the waffles...

A great new casual restaurant at Canada Place (Cruise ship terminal) is the Cactus Club

If you are any sort of Foodie the Executive Chef won a battle on Iron Chef America a few years ago and his Assistant just won Top Chef Canada a few months ago.

 

There is lots just near Canada Place most have spectacular views - ENJOY!!

If you just want more of a snack - after all once of the ship you will have lots of food to eat - there is a food court in the Waterfront Center which is adjacent to Canada Place - there's a Tim Hortons, a pizza place, Mcdonalds, Fat Burger and a number of Asian and ethnic eateries.
