Details on the NEW 2016 ship!

Regarding the possible placement of serenity, I think that it will most likely be placed in the front of the ship where the structure with the black pole looking thing is. Considering the water park will be placed aft it seems the most ideal location. Also keep in mind too that most new cruise ships have their serenity areas in the forward sections of the upper decks.

The top three decks are almost reminiscent of the fantasy class.

How so?

The forward top deck reminds me if the sun deck where mini golf is. Then the water park aft. Then it looks like a single level buffet area where the funnel is. Lol just my two cents. This design is growing on me. Watch it will be nothing like it. Lol

You had me until you used the word "heavier" when describing the ships tonnage. The tonnage of the ship and weight have nothing to do with each other.

Just to tweak you, that would depend on whether you are referring to deadweight tonnage or gross registered tonnage.;)

I've heard a couple of people mentioning the space ratio. What's a normal space ratio and what's considered ideal?

Carnivals fleet averages just below 36. The new Sunshine comes in at 33.

In comparison here are what the other lines average.

Disney 49

Royal Caribbean 40 with Majesty of the Seas coming in at 30.

Princess 40

NCL 37

Thanks for the model. I think it's safe to say that this will be the design of the 2016 new build. It's a great model, I just hope that they don't try to turn this ship into breakaway and NCl with all of the extra for pay eateries. But I am glad to see carnival innovate

What besides more cabins and no atrium is the innovations you speak of?

Space ratio is a bogus number IMO. It is a ratio of volume per passenger - not square footage and is misleading. It give no indication of how "spacious" any given area is - e.g. staterooms. Massive, for pay venues, I don't consider really public space.

When you are crammed into a tiny cabin, just keep repeating over and over, "But the ship has a high space ratio". Repeat as necessary.

Is that a bogus number because Carnival has the smallest space ratio?

I'm guessing you wouldn't have said that is Carnival had the highest space ratio.

I think I see a theme here. Isn't this close to the order of the JD Powers cruiser satisfaction survey.

New Ship you say, my thoughts....since you asked:

New Ship: I dislike, seems they are struggling to fill them now and all the ships I have been on seems fine ( only 2 Carnival)

1. There will be no large Atrium - only 3 decks stopping at deck 5:

I see the Atrium and look up on Day 1 and rarely pop through it again, no loss

2. Deck 4 will have the Casino from the existing conference room to the Blush Dining Room as exists on Breeze;

I never used the casino

3. Ship will be approximately 21 feet longer at bow and 30 feet at aft;

4. It will be the same width as the Dream Class;

makes little difference to me.

5. There will be 3 pools (with a 1/2 in 1/2 out pool where the current Limelight Lounge is on the Breeze);

3 cruises, used a hot tub once, never a pool

6. More cabins with a capacity of 5,100 persons (an increase of 400 persons from existing Breeze)

Ugh, are these ships not crowded enough yet?

7. Cabins will be in existing empty space above deck 5 of Breeze Atrium;

Fine

8. Deck 5 will have a number of "specialty" restaurants (paid) with a variety of themes;

Ugh, nickel and dime folks more...

9. There will be a "Crew Serenity" area at bow of ship with same style chairs, hammocks etc. (no spa) like the existing Serenity areas on board Carnival ships;

Just for crew? seems odd

10. It will be around 5,000 tons heavier than existing Dream Class (130,000) and will most likely be called Carnival Sunrise, Carnival Vista, or Carnival Splash, most likely Sunrise!

Makes no difference to me.

Over all, I'd say stop building and just keep the ones ya got running.

The half aft pool, crew serenity, etc. and the whole design in general. Carnival is known for adding a deck and calling it a new class ship. Not this time. Just take a look at the model.This is a brand new design and a fresh start to carnivals recent troubles. And we have yet to see the details of the inside of the ship yet...

Woah there Bill!

Information about the ship hasn't even been officially released yet, its way too early to make assumptions. Even the actual design has not been released yet, we don't even know if this concept is the actual one that will be used. (Even though it most likely will be).

I think we should pass judgement when we know for a fact what this ship will be like.

Our inside on the Allure was almost the same size as an inside on CCL. However, I could see the importance of having more area in a cabin on CCL as you'll spend more time in it. It gives you a place to rest when you are tired of the long lines on the lido deck, the huge mobs of people on the promenade deck and pool area. Also, with a lack of entertainment and activities, you can sit in the room and watch the colorado feeds on the TV- wow!

We really didn't spend much time in our room as, along with the ports, we had a lot of shows to see, rode the flowrider, merry go round, attended the parades, got pics with dreamworks charactors, etc.

This new CCL ship looks like a continuation of CCL trying to cram more people into an old design, nothing at all innovative.

I remember when the sunshine came out, you said that the it would not be crowded, that CCL's cracker jack team of designers would make a crowded ship feel less crowded by adding 400 more people to it- yeah, we all know how that went.

I will take the newness of this design over six flags of the sea any day
