We have found the Mariner's Brunch and the Welcome Aboard functions -- not worth going to.

Warm wine at the Welcome Aboard -- had been poured about an hour before.

Mariner Brunch -- free-for-all to get a table --not worth fighting the mobs for that and 1 glass of cheap wine/champagne -- depends on ship.

Yes -- we go to the AWARDS ceremony.

 

Very rarely are there any pictures taken of those of us with high number days. They just ask those with over 700 days -- raise your hands REALLY?? We are not in Grade School!!-- never call out our names!!

 

We go to the "Welcome Aboard" before the start of the show -- not one captain on any of our cruises has arrived early.

 

 

I'm sorry to hear that is what has happened to you.

We are happy that has never been our experience and every cruise, we always have a photo taken with Hotel Director and Captain and it is always delivered to our cabin mailbox. That is one of our favorite momentos from every cruise. I always make a note of date and names on the back lest I forget at some point. :)

 

We have NEVER been asked to raise our hands. :eek:

My first and only cruise, so far, was to Alaska on the carnival spirit. We ran into the captain on formal night while walking through the casino. He was with two other officers and man, they looked sharp. We walked up and introduced ourselves and he was really delightful, not to mention handsome! We chatted for a while and then we took pictures. Really a nice, charming man.
