Ketchikan misty fjord seaplane and weather

Has anyone done the float plane in Ketchikan on a cloudy, rainy day and if so how is visibility? Also what about the wind conditions? At what point would you say is too windy to go. I'm scheduled to go in about 10 days and not sure if I want to go if the weather isn't so good. Let me know your experience and the weather.

You have to be willing to leave this decision to the pilot's expertise. There are visibility and wind standards which cancel flights. I have flown in less than ideal weather, no issue for me. But, I've flown this area over 20 times, so I'm coming from a different perspective.

 

There is no way to predict what you are going to encounter.

If the pilot cancels you get a refund. If you cancel on the day or even a few days ahead, you likely won't get a full refund.

We flew this in Aug 2009 with amazing weather. We are booked again in three weeks and hoping for the same! Please let us know how things work out! Hoping for clear skies for you!!

We had some rough weather on our way back. There was no question of canceling it hence..and we were glad we didn't..the view was truly magnificent

We flew on a kinda cloudy spitting a little rain sort of day. It was still magnificent. Went with SE Kayaking - did sea kayaks and then the plane taxiied right up to the big boat and we jumped in. Great day.
