Can you bring a cooler on decks?

I apologize to the thread police if this has already been asked but I couldn't find the answer to this specifically. I know there are size limitations, but if my cooler is the proper size can we carry it with us to the pool, etc.? TIA!

I can only say, in all the cruises I've been on, I've never seen a cooler on deck. Of course, that doesn't mean you can't have them.....just I've never seen one. I hope you have a fabulous cruise.:D

Ive never seen one either. Ive seen people bring insulated big mugs from home with those filled, probably because they are easier to carry around.

did you notice the chairs are next to each other with mere inches on either side. the only place that you could store it is under the foot of the lounge chair.

I dont see the need for a cooler on the decks.

We bring our cooler to the pool on every cruise. It's a cute cooler bag that I purchased at target - really could pass for a tote bag or small beach bag. You would never know its a cooler until you unzip it. Our room steward on every cruise has always been willing to keep it filled with ice for our enjoyment. One of our best $15 purchases ever!

This is probably smaller than some of the beach bags some of us bring to the pool. I'm sure you're not going to fill it with 45 cans, are you?:) Bring it with you. If you want to enjoy some of your own beverages on deck (that you're permitted to bring), then go ahead. My daughter acutally owns one of these bags that she bought at Target and she brings it to the beach for her and the kiddies.

And how would I notice that the chairs have "mere inches" between them if I've never been on the ship? And just because you don't see a need for a cooler doesn't mean I don't.

Thanks to all for your replies:)

I always bring a small collapsible cooler with me to take off the ship with chilled waters for excursions. I haven't thought to take it up on deck with me before, but now that you asked I think that's a great idea! I won't have to go back to the room to get my hubby a cold Pepsi Max. :-)

when I stated I dont see a need for a cooler on the deck-- that it was meant"I" dont see a need to take one there. Especially at the pool decks you are not far from ice machines and drink stations.

If wanting to buy a drink you ask one of the many bar waiters walking around

Why do I need a cooler at the pool? We purchase liquor from Bon voyage and mix with lemonade or soda for poolside drinks! On our recent cruise, I mixed sangria in a large plastic bottle to enjoy by the pool. Also great to keep water bottles nice and cold.

I take my little pop up cooler with me to the pool, hot tub etc and carry it around with me. I have even taken it to the casino with me.

It is what I purchased through the BV department and was delivered to me a few cruises ago. Sometimes I keep my beers in there, sometimes i have water or cokes in it.

It's okay to take your own cooler as long as it meets CCL's requirements.

I use my own cokes, and sometimes the cans from the wet bar.

Others have their own opinions, and that's the key.."their" own opinions. Do what you like. It's not against any rules.

have fun!

When you say cooler, I think some people are picturing those heavy duty ones used at large BBQs and tailgate parties. Never seen one of those on deck, but have seen many other types.

We have a small collapsible cooler, the size to fit a 6-pack perfectly. I use it for my lunch at work and it could almost be confused for a make up bag or purse. It was about $5 at Target. On cruises we use it in the room(and the steward keeps ice in it). However, I saw several people with them on deck. They're smaller than those buckets of beer people buy, and fit under or beside a deck chair. It folds up super tiny and is easy to pack into the front pocket of a suitcase too.

Mine looks something like this and is insulated. They come in a bazillion colors :)

I have a small collapsible cooler that I have carried on upper decks when I sunbathe. It has a shoulder strap and is pretty easy to carry. I like to get a bucket of beer before I go to bed, ice it down in the cooler in my cabin overnight, and then take it up on deck the next day. It is icy cold by then. I like my beer really cold. I don't like that the beer bottles stick out of the top of the buckets of beer that you can buy at the bars, and they always put the least amount of ice on them that they can get away with, and once you take one beer out of the bucket, the remaining bottles are about half outside the ice and get hot quickly in the sun.

That being said, I don't think I would take a cooler any larger than a small one into the Lido pool area because it gets really crowded there, especially on sea days. My collapsible cooler is small enough that it easily fits into the outside zipper pocket of my suitcase when collapsed.

Have a great cruise.

I agree. If you want to bring a cooler a soft one would be the way to go.

Cold drinks and food are so easily and quickly accessible, I cannot imagine a reason to have a cooler.

Can you imagine that some people take on their own bottled water, and maybe they want to keep it cold ? I think that's a valid reason.

My wife bought me a soft sided cooler ( with beer in it ) from Bon Voyage, and I take it every time we cruise now.
