ALASKA landtour 13A/Radiance cruise July 5, 2013 review with pics

Recommended Posts

Odds and ends about the ship. We had a great room steward. He seemed so happy to see us in the hallways. We had 2 requests and each was taken care of quickly. He kept our room spotless. He never looked tired and was always so cheerful.

The main dining room staff was fantastic. We had 6 PM dining. The twins were able to stay at diner the whole time this cruise unlike the last one where we had 8:30 late dining and they were so tired that had to leave early. The food choices were good and I especially liked the Alaska specific menu with Halibut chowder and wild Alaskan salmon grilled on a plank.

Our room steward and dining team got our wow cards. Several bar tenders also were so attentive to us, we would have liked to have given them a wow card. Vanessa, bar server/bar tender in concierge lounge was fantastic. Always busy but had our drinks refilled without a wait. She was also good at telling parents that young children need an adult with them at hors d`oeuvres buffet set up, including my niece and nephew. Its nice to know that little fingers have not been touching food. I noticed that when she was extremely busy with filling drink orders, delivering them, and cleaning tables that JD, when he did not seem too busy, did not help her. On other ships, when the server was very busy the concierge always helped out.

We went to 2 shows. Both were good and more crowded than I expected so it was nice to have the gold card holder benefit of reserved seating in the balcony. I thought the seats were in a good location also.

I can't think of anything else right now to add. Any questions are welcome.

Great pictures, I am really enjoying the review. Mom and I are looking for when we get to do an Alaska cruise.

Thanks for sharing :)

I have read your reviews; I am a fan. I think you and your mom would have a great time in Alaska. Your photos would be very much worth seeing.

We plan on Doing Alaska in the near future, can I some how keep this review so I can look back at the information?

Only way I know how to get a review is to use search tool. Go to Royal Caribbean International forum page, hit "search this forum' at upper right hand corner and type in Alaska and Radiance. This gave me some great past reviews I used to help plan my trip. I tried saving specific reviews to my favorites but I couldn't get it to work. Or you can subscribe to the thread and emails will be sent to you reporting replies to the review. You can keep one of the emails to keep specific thread. I did this for ace1zoe2 review of Alaska and had the link handy in my email folder. I hope this helps.

I was on the same cruise, and JD sent a letter to our cabin telling us to meet in Chops for debarkation at 8am. We got there about 745am, and at 8am on the dot, he came and escorted us off the ship. I'm not sure why he treated you so differently, especially since he knew you wanted to leave early.

I agree with you, Vanessa is a sweetheart. I've know her for a long time and it was nice to catch her on this cruise, as she signed off when we got to Vancouver. As for JD not helping her.. I can tell you one thing.. there's no love lost between those two. Actually Vanessa can't stand him! When speaking with her one night, she told us her new contract was to return to the Radiance, however she requested, and received approval for a transfer.. She'll now be joining the Jewel when she comes back in a few months.

Thanks for a wonderful and thorough review. I am happy you had an amazing time.

I can't wait to see you and your DH on one of our roll calls. I have a inkling that we would have hilarious time. :D
