Cruizinman Posted July 28, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2013 Prop your door open  on a Carnival ship, you must be a smoker ;)
Want2Cruise 701 Posted July 28, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 28, 2013 We always do whichever cruise we're on. Just love hearing the ocean and sounds. We just prop it open with the chair. Make sure its up there tight since the Carnival doors are heavy. Other lines like X and RCI that have the sliders make it so much easier.
Jifner Posted July 28, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2013 We do sometimes. I stick the door stop that the cabin steward uses and wedge in in the door hinge area to keep the door open, or at where the door closes to just keep it open a bit. Depends on how much outdoors I want inside. :)

emelvee Posted July 28, 2013 #9 Share Posted July 28, 2013 Had it open just enough to hear the waves from our Cove balcony on Dream, July 13-20. Never did figure out if it cut off the a/c - it wasn't too hot during our cruise.
Waterloomarc Posted July 28, 2013 #10 Share Posted July 28, 2013 Love the sound of the ocean but hate the humidity in the cabin more so we don't keep it open at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
rainbowflag Posted July 28, 2013 #11 Share Posted July 28, 2013 Way too humid to prop the door open. Doesn't that depend where the ship is located and the season?
firemanbobswife Posted July 28, 2013 #12 Share Posted July 28, 2013 Just love when the ding dongs do that and then open their cabin doors. It's especially nice when you happen to be walking by their rooms while all of their papers blow out into the hallway on to your face. Been there - done that. If you must open your balcony door, never do it while smoking in case a cigarette blows back into the room and make sure to close it before going in/out of your main cabin door. Don't prop ours open because we always go to the Caribbean and it gets too humid and everything in the room gets damp. If I want to hear the ocean, I will take my hind parts to my balcony and listen to it there as nature intended.
wrigley80 Posted July 28, 2013 #13 Share Posted July 28, 2013 A bungee cord would hold the balcony door open....we don't like to keep our balcony door open because it just gets too warm in the room
jodipayne Posted July 28, 2013 #14 Share Posted July 28, 2013 We leave our balcony door open during the whole cruise. Just draw the drapes/curtain over the door section to prevent the wind tunnel. Much easier and quieter to just part the curtain than to open/close the balcony door all the time. Pack a bungie cord ...
Handsome58 Posted July 28, 2013 #15 Share Posted July 28, 2013 a bungee cord. We only leave it open at night. The sound of the ship cutting through water is so great. Since it is at night we never have to deal with it being humid.
Cruise-Crazy Posted July 28, 2013 #16 Share Posted July 28, 2013 I bring a short piece of rope and tie it open. Nice to sleep with the ocean sounds. :)
elliair Posted July 28, 2013 #17 Share Posted July 28, 2013 That's why we only book a balcony. We love the ocean sound and the fresh air coming in. The only time it's not open is when we are not in the cabin.
Cruise-Crazy Posted July 28, 2013 #18 Share Posted July 28, 2013 I did get woke up one night with rain blowing in on me.
Slopfrog Posted July 28, 2013 #19 Share Posted July 28, 2013 I heard this screws up the air conditioning for surrounding cabins. Is that true?
rlwebst Posted July 28, 2013 #20 Share Posted July 28, 2013 It does cause it to rain from your ceiling after a while.
AZbeachboy Posted July 28, 2013 #21 Share Posted July 28, 2013 We did it on a cruise from Tahiti to Hawaii. It was only at night and wonderful. However, it was July but we still got cold one night and had to close it and we were somewhere around the equator. The breeze and sound of the water was great. Bookbug53 Posted July 28, 2013 #22 Share Posted July 28, 2013 We had 7411 on Glory in June and the door would stay in whatever position we placed it with nothing bracing or holding it. It was great! Others mentioned (when reading review) having this cabin long before we were in it and it did the same thing. Don't report to Carnival! :p Summer off the coast of New England and Canada does not produce much worry over humidity!;)
N.FL Cruisers Posted July 28, 2013 #23 Share Posted July 28, 2013 To humid to do that for me but our cabin on the Liberty, 8389, stayed open on it's own. If, I accidently pulled it fully open then it would stay.
MrPete Posted July 28, 2013 #24 Share Posted July 28, 2013 Day time? Night Time? What do you use to prop it? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Forums mobile app Never. I don't want that humidity in my room, nor the salt in that moist air in my bed and pillow. And the ceiling condensation can make it rain.
