Rare JimmyVWine Posted August 3, 2013 #76 Share Posted August 3, 2013 Those are the places I frequent. Why should the cruise lines subsidize your taste at the expense of others? You seem to keep circling back to this. I don't want anyone to subsidize me. If HAL wants to sell me a $5 bottle for $25, then it wants to reach into my pocket for $20 of profit. I am perfectly willing to give them that same $20 bill in exchange for me drinking my own bottle. $20=$20. No one is subsidizing anything. This really isn't a novel or complex idea. lovetocruise2020 Posted August 3, 2013 #77 Share Posted August 3, 2013 Wrong. Cruise lines need to make money. You want your own wine? Pay for it. What part do you not get about THEY DO NOT CARRY IT? Lmao They do not have it, so how do i pay for it?
Rare JimmyVWine Posted August 3, 2013 #78 Share Posted August 3, 2013 They shouldn't, just charge a corkage You want your own wine? Pay for it. That's what "charge a corkage" means.

lovetocruise2020 Posted August 3, 2013 #83 Share Posted August 3, 2013 Is this the sangria you are speaking about? Oh quint? Yes. http://Www.quintllc.com Its made from some goood stuff, and better than any ive tasted, from scratch or otherwise. Its the choice of upscale restaurants in southern ca for sangria base, and they add fresh fruit.
mariner Posted August 3, 2013 Author #84 Share Posted August 3, 2013 No. And you haven't addressed why you're willing to give up a good cruise for a cheap bottle of wine.
lovetocruise2020 Posted August 3, 2013 #85 Share Posted August 3, 2013 No. And you haven't addressed why you're willing to give up a good cruise for a cheap bottle of wine. $24 for a HALF bottle is not cheap? Where did you get cheap? $32 for a bottle of sparkling is moderate. Not cheap. Princess is a good cruise as well, just different. I have no loyalty to lines, i find ships i prefer. HAL is losing a 3 star mariner, because they went from one extreme to the other. If HAL would special order, i would stay with them, but they will not. Not less than one case. Almost all dessert wines come in half ( slender bottles)

lovetocruise2020 Posted August 3, 2013 #94 Share Posted August 3, 2013 It's Port. Not every port is a dessert wine, like the ones im referring to above. Most ice wines and dessert wines you will find in a half slender bottle.
lovetocruise2020 Posted August 3, 2013 #95 Share Posted August 3, 2013 Sandeman ports are not half bottles. Sandemans is a tawny port, and most tawny ports will be in large bottles,
mariner Posted August 3, 2013 Author #96 Share Posted August 3, 2013 Most dessert wines etc come in full bottles. They come in half bottles because they're cheaper. I don't buy cases of half bottles. Talk about mark-up girl.

Decandencia is only half bottles. I think you will find most tawny ports are full bottles, dessert and ice wine mostly half. Most likely depends on what the winery is doing.
