Mahogany Bay

We will be at Mahogany Bay in September, and I was wondering if the private part of the beach is for Cabanas only, or if Carnival offers an excursion for that part of the beach without the cabana? Also, is the pier at the edge of the beach for everyone, or just those that pay extra?

There is a small section of the MB beach that is roped off for the cabanas, it's near the end of the beach by the small pier before the cove opens into the ocean. The rest of the beach is open to whomever whats to use it. Loungers for the taking, extra for water toys, food and drink for sale.

Thanks for the replies! I was afraid the roped off part was for cabanas only. Dh and I don't want to rent a cabana, but would pay more to use the less crowded part of the beach. The last time we were there, it was very crowded, very few chairs, all the shady spots taken, and standing room only in the water  .

We may go to Tabyana beach instead. I was looking for an alternative to riding in a tour bus at this port.

Just remember that Tabayana is going to be crowded too depending on how many ships are in port and the ship tours. Plus you'll get the hawkers selling their wares. Of course you can wander away from Tabayana toward other less crowded areas along the West End, but you'll need to keep an eye ont he time so you don't miss your tour bus connection back.

If you'd like to do a less crowded area, that's not overly expensive to get to or stay at, look into Las Palmos (Pirates Bay, now?). It's between Coxen Hole and MB nearer the airport but decent beach. I think this is the latest email address. roatanpiratesbay@gmail.com.
