Question about travel to Jamaica

I couldn't find this answer by searching this forum so I do apologize if it has been asked before but is a passport needed for this port or can one still us a bc and id. We are considering doing a cruise to here next year and I would like to know in advance as it would play into our decision for this cruise.

If you are an American citizen and your cruise starts and ends in the same US port you are fine with bc and photo id.

In Michigan I went to get an enhanced drivers liscence - works in place of a passport in Mexico and the carribean, I think
