Early Saver Price Reduction is Abyss

I found a 1a room for less than what I paid. I sent in a price reduction and got the below rejection letter.

Please be advise that your Early Saver Price Protection form submitted has been denied. You submitted a rate of $498, but that rate didn't exist for your category held. In order to get any rates lower at this point you will need to upgrade to the category that's offering the lower rate. Please give us a call if you wish to upgrade to the next available category that's offering a lower rate

The room was a 1A. Unfortunately I didn't have the print screen to prove it. I emailed back and asked them to please look reevaluate their decision cause I knew I was right. No response. Shortly after I came across the rate reduction for 1A rooms again and this time I did print screen it.

On August 1st I filled out the form and applied for a rate reduction. I have not heard back from anyone at Carnival. Is a 1A a 1A no matter where it's at. I checked fair viewer and it's that way tonight. Am I doing something wrong or am I getting the the run around here.

Can someone please advise me here.

JT :(

It sounds like you're getting the runaround. I have before also, and wound up calling them. The rep saw everything that I saw, couldn't understand why I was getting rejected, and he was able to get the lower rate applied. This happens quite a bit with this ridiculous online form. They don't see what's right in front of them, then send a rejection email. Right now, we're still waiting on some kind of response, as they seem to be taking forever right now. I may need to submit a 3rd form, as they seem to be disappearing.

I booked a 1A for my last cruise and was generously upgraded to a 4B for free. Carnival did the upgrade without telling me. I found a rate $100 lower for a 1A and filled out the form. Carnival denied it because I was in a 4B and the rate was for 1A. I then contacted Carnival via email and got no response for over a week. I requested to put me back in my original 1A and give me the $100 on board credit. Since I didn't get a response, I called and was told they could not put me in a 1A because they were sold out of 1A. Needless to say, they didn't give me the on board credit.

I contacted Customer Service. After several calls, I never got the $100 credit. They had all kind of excuses. Then they claim that I wasn't protected against that type of rate (Pack & Go). I had booked it in October 2012 before Carnival implemented the new Early Saver Program (December 2012) that doesn't qualify for all rates. My experience had been excellent before to get a refund or credit when price drops. I'm so disappointed that I have not booked another Carnival cruise. I always had another cruise booked with Early Saver as soon as I get off the last cruise or even before the last cruise. This time I'll wait for a super good last minute deal or won't cruise with Carnival.

I suggest you keep calling Carnival customer service. In all fairness, Carnival did honor a $260 credit on this cruise, but I only got $200 OBC without a problem. The $60 credit was due to several calls. But I never got the last $100 price drop. The cruise price had dropped a total of $360 since I booked it. I don't mind the money as much as the principle. My Early Saver was to be protected against all price drops. The current Early Saver is not. I was willing to pay the full rate I booked it originally, but if price dropped, I was entitled to OBC for difference. It was a great cruise at a great price; but Carnival didn't honor their Guarantee.

I usually always call....it takes the drama out of those stupid forms....I call them as soon as I see it and then one time I had to explain to them how I found the rate cause they couldn't find it (took two people but I was right)

I agree they did the same to me. And dont forget when I booked and this was probally the case with you there was a cheaper rate to book and the reason why I went with early saver was the garentee. and they have so many restrictions it sucks I will also book at the last minute as long as I get a balcony I dont care where its at.

This is my first time with Early Saving and I find it hard for anyone to complain.

I booked the cruise back in January,..and have been getting price reductions and then OBC since then.

Everyone I have spoken too has been nice.,.prompt to help I mean....

How is it bad to keep getting price reductions.,.and then after Final payment to keep getting OBC.

We are in a Cove Balcony. When they are all booked...no more OBC for us. I understand that. Accept it. I want a casino rate. But I don't have a current casino offer and I don't qualify. They said that if it was a Super Saver...it did not qualify

When I use my OBC to upgrade to a nicer balcony...then it is gone. I cannot spend it twice...upgrade and then keep OBC.

Working in customer service anywhere is probably a frustrating job. I commend Carnival. I think they handle it well.
