Deciding between Westin and Sheraton Beach

Any and all pros, cons, opinions appreciated...

 

Two days/nights... Family of five... No rental car... Need to get from FLL to hotel and from hotel to POM...

Sheraton-right on beach but most buildings are not on beach

Westin-across from beach

 

both--old hotels with recent renovations

 

Westin-MUCH closer to Beach Place and more restaurants, has a full-service Starbucks on the property

Both are very close to water taxi stops.

Sheraton: Bahia Mar stop

Westin: Beach Place stop (or call for pickup from Pillars, very close).

We have stayed at the Westin twice and love it. Both times we have book 2 rooms on cash and point and both times we got upgrades to view. The first time only one room had a full water view the second had a partial. Last December both rooms had full water views. And the staff has always been wonderful.

which is more "walk-able" to things to see, do, places to eat, etc?

also, will either have any entertainment or ability to see fireworks, etc for New Year's Eve?

Westin is much closer to the entertainment area. I'm not sure what will be going on at the beach for NYE yet.
