Today (Sunday, Aug. 18th), a reporter on Good Morning America said that the smoke from the fires covering the Northwest had drifted as far as Alaska and that this would be the situation for two more weeks. I'm hoping that someone from Alaska or Vancouver monitors this board and can give us some updated info. Thanks!

Don't have any smoke from the Idaho fires yet. Live about 4 hrs north and east of Vancouver.

Thanks . Currently the wind in BC is from the NW blowing towards the fires in Idaho and the other parts of the western states . Once our hot ridge rebuilds we probably will get the smoke . We are less then 250 miles (as the birds fly) from the fires.

google for the web cams at any destination you'll be visiting and you can "see" current conditions. Right now the Juneau and Ketchikan web cams show rain and fog.... no smoke.

I live 20 miles east of Seattle and it's sunny with a few clouds ... no smoke from NW fires.

We were just in Denali on the 18th and the shuttle driver and a ranger said that the day before (aug 17th) Mt McKinnley had no clouds around it but was obscured by smoke. There's also (apparently) a fire burning near chena hot springs in Fairbanks that was started by the military
