CruisinCadie Posted August 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2013 Can someone please tell me in which section of the dining room the select dining is located on the Summit? Upper/lower level? Starboard or port? We sail in 5 1/2 weeks, and I was wondering. Thanks, Kathy

Spf12 Posted August 27, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 27, 2013 That should say Starboard...and Blu is upper level Port. I just got off of the Summit,Select dining is upper level Port and Blu(where we ate) is Upper level starboard.
Karen@Steve Posted August 27, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 27, 2013 Thanks for correcting me. Left and right seems to be an issue for me. The solution is, I need to cruise more Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
Spf12 Posted August 27, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 27, 2013 I just got off of the Summit,Select dining is upper level Port and Blu(where we ate) is Upper level starboard. I'm the one who has left and right backwards.Blu was on deck 5 Port and Select is on deck 5 Starboard.Sorry for the confusion.

CruisingChick Posted August 27, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 27, 2013 The dining room is at the aft (back) of the ship, so you are always facing the back of the ship when you enter, therefore very easy to get left and right mixed up.

That's where I thought I had messed up. I thought that the restaurants were in the stern then I thought maybe I came down behind the restaurant (but couldn't have) and been facing the wrong way. No worries, I've always found the food pretty easy to locate on a cruise...LOL.
Spf12 Posted August 27, 2013 #10 Share Posted August 27, 2013 See....we both need to cruise more... :D Or in my case stay out of the Elite lounge for the 2 hrs before dinner. 2 hrs,6 drinks, and don'y know your left from right.

So that's why I can never remember where my table is in the MDR.
Karen@Steve Posted August 27, 2013 #12 Share Posted August 27, 2013 I'm jealous as I haven't made Elite yet. However, the next cruise on the Reflection is with the premium bev package. I just hoping in to remember the cruise when it's over....hiccup. On top of that I've got an oversized balcony and I'm afraid DH is just going to camp out there because he loves being on the water... Such problems!
sheffield Posted August 27, 2013 #13 Share Posted August 27, 2013 We just got off the Summit last Sunday and we ate on both sides of the upper level in the MDR. Even though Blu is on one side there are still regular select tables on that side as well.
Jersey42 Posted August 27, 2013 #14 Share Posted August 27, 2013 We were on last week too. The select dining room is in the upstairs (deck 5) portion of the Cosmopolitan restaurant. It runs the entire width of the ship in the aft portion. Blu takes up a section of the port side of the restaurant. Blue is completeley walled off from the Cosmopolitan restaurant. We especially liked the table (yellow) at the aft window. Great view.
CruisinCadie Posted August 28, 2013 Author #15 Share Posted August 28, 2013 So basically it's upper level, wherever they decide to put you? Well, more stairs = more calories burned = more calories available for intake. Thanks to all who answered. Kathy
sheffield Posted August 28, 2013 #16 Share Posted August 28, 2013 There is an entrance on the upper level so you do not have to go up any stairs in the dining room.
CruisingChick Posted August 28, 2013 #17 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Entrance to Select Dining - Deck 5 Aft - Starboard Side. Entrance to Blu - Deck 5 Aft - Port Side. No need for any stairs unless you are at the Martini Bar on Deck 4 or Rendezvous Lounge on Deck 4 before dinner, then you have to walk up to Deck 5 to enter. And I really like your "favorite" table!
suekay Posted August 28, 2013 #19 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Isn't the area shaded blue with the tables mostly for two, the Blu restaurant, not select dining

Jersey42 Posted August 28, 2013 #21 Share Posted August 28, 2013 No,It's Select dining. The area shaded blue is indeed the Blu restaurant. The yellow shaded table was our favorite one in the Select Dining portion of the Cosmopolitan Restaurant. The table diagram is similar to the actual layout of the tables, but there are differences. For example last week there was another table for two on an aft window next to the shaded one. Just don't count on the diagram.
CruisinCadie Posted August 29, 2013 Author #22 Share Posted August 29, 2013 Entrance to Select Dining - Deck 5 Aft - Starboard Side. Entrance to Blu - Deck 5 Aft - Port Side. No need for any stairs unless you are at the Martini Bar on Deck 4 or Rendezvous Lounge on Deck 4 before dinner, then you have to walk up to Deck 5 to enter. Our cabin is on Deck 3, so 2 flights of stairs is a reasonable way to burn some of those calories and not wait for the elevators to get down to us.:) Kathy
gracecarmo Posted August 29, 2013 #23 Share Posted August 29, 2013 On several cruises, we noticed tables for two along the hallway (as you enter the select dining room). Does the Summit have them? I don't see them indicated on the diagram.

cheffip Posted August 29, 2013 #25 Share Posted August 29, 2013 We're doing select for the first time on Summit in December. Is it easy to get a table for two? (Our preference at the end of the day).
