sr4mjc Posted September 3, 2013 #26 Share Posted September 3, 2013 Our Alaska cruise went up $600pp after we booked. It is a gamble. There are some itineraries that just never go down. If it is a special itinerary, the price may not drop. If it's an average 7 day cruise and your dates are flexible and more importantly you do not care where your cabin is, there are deals to be found. squadron Posted September 3, 2013 #27 Share Posted September 3, 2013 You got a great price for an oceanview anyway. Try to be happy with that. If a balcony is so important that you are miserable because you don't have one - book one in the first place. New booking prices are just that - new booking prices. SHayesShip Posted September 3, 2013 #28 Share Posted September 3, 2013 Contact the Crown and Anchor department directly. I don't have the phone number handy but if you call the direct line they will transfer you. Ok, I'm booked on the freedom of the seas on the 29th of this month. I paid 639pp for an ocean view. It went on sale and a balcony went for 649 2 weeks ago but they refused to give me a balcony cuz it was a sale :( . I was not a happy camper .. Then someone on here said they got they upgrade on one of their cruises that same week by bugging them. So, this week I went on the crown and anchor site for the preview of the Tuesday sale and this time a balcony is gonna be 629.00. I WANT A BALCONY!!!! As of now a balcony is 799. What number do I call, who do I have to drive crazy?? I'm willing to pester them :D I tried to call today and someone transferred me to another place who told me the office was closed due to the holiday. So... Any tips?? SHayesShip Posted September 3, 2013 #29 Share Posted September 3, 2013 This is true. I am on the 9/29/2013 sailing and was upgraded from outside to balcony because it happened to be $100 more so they made the decision to take more money. In my case it was handles directly through C&A department who got approval from Supervisor. People have reported that they talked to the Resolutions department and were able to upgrade to a sale priced (restricted to new bookings) stateroom, but only if that stateroom was priced more than what they paid. If the better stateroom is priced the same or less than what you paid, then you cannot upgrade when the price is restricted to new bookings. You got the upgrade because the price was MORE than what you paid...the OP is looking at an upgrade that is LESS than what they paid...which is why they won't give them the upgrade...if the price is still there on Sat. after the sale ends then yes, they have a good chance of getting the upgrade...it's all in the timing...
