Mrs.G's Mr.G Posted September 6, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2013 Can someone please explain and give a breakdown VIFP points? Thanks in advance 1 point for every day you have sailed on Carnival. http://www.carnival.com/loyalty/benefits.aspx
Rare shof515 Posted September 6, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2013 it replaces the old past guest system. You only get 1 point per day
asalligo Posted September 6, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2013 So the old system was platinum in as little as 10 cruises, right? Did any 10 cruises count?
asalligo Posted September 6, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2013 April 27th, 2010 Every cruise line has a loyalty program and Carnival is no different. Carnival Cruises has the “flattest” past guest recognition loyalty program of all the cruise lines, with two tiers: On your second cruise with Carnival, you are upgraded to the Gold Member status of the Past Guest Recognition program. On your 10th cruise, you are upgraded to the Platinum Member status of the Past Guest Recognition program. That’s it! No strange schedules to remember, no points system to confuse you, no partners that let you earn points in strange ways – just look at the number of sailings and you know what tier you’re in. I wish more loyalty programs were as simple as Carnival’s Past Guest Recognition Program. So, what does the program get you? That would have been nice. I could have been platinum in several years instead of the 15 years it might take me now.

If you would like to see a breakdown go to carnival.com and look in the right upper corner you will see vifp tab click on it. cathyz Posted September 6, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 6, 2013 So the old system was platinum in as little as 10 cruises, right? Did any 10 cruises count? Yes, a person could have taken ten 3-day cruises and been Platinum under the old program.

Carnival_Brides Posted September 6, 2013 #10 Share Posted September 6, 2013 Or you could have done 10 CTN's and had no more than 20 days. There is a lady on one of the Platinum threads who is one cruise away from "old Platinum" and has 72 days, while I just hit Platinum using the grandfather rules with 55 days. It'll be a long way to Diamond, though.

I'm at 55 days and 9 cruises with Carnival, I was able to squeeze one in for November,so I will reach platinum before the end of the year:)

theeddie Posted September 7, 2013 #14 Share Posted September 7, 2013 4 of my 10 cruises were 3 days on the old program :) the new program stinks, but at least they didnt take it all away
skrufy Posted September 7, 2013 #15 Share Posted September 7, 2013 In our case, we will take our 8th cruise this Oct. And our 9th next Apr.and be up graded to platinum. Our sailing days grew because we have taken 3 cruises of 10 days or more.
gusandgidgetsmom Posted September 7, 2013 #16 Share Posted September 7, 2013 I think the new program is a lot more fair. More apples to apples as far as money spent but still not exactly equal as money for different categories varies greatly. I don't like the change in milestone tho, but it's their ballgame!
