Akitkat118 Posted September 9, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2013 kind of random, but has anyone every brought their baby monitor on the cruise? i'm wondering if i should bring one so i can put my guy to bed and step into the hallway to let him fall asleep alone and then go back in but i can listen while i am in the hall... would it work on the ship? katiedidthat Posted September 9, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2013 I don't know why it wouldn't work if you were only outside the door- that's only a few feet through a wall. I wouldn't risk leaving the cabin more than that though, you never know what could happen while you're away!
Lerin Posted September 9, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2013 Do you have a balcony room? It may be more comfortable for you to sit there(and you'd be able to see him) rather than be squished on the floor in the hall.
Akitkat118 Posted September 9, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted September 9, 2013 we do have a balcony. i don't have a problem going into the hall if that would be easier too. just long enough for him to put himself to sleep so we can go back in and turn on some low lights. i'm just wondering if it is worth bringing a monitor or if that seems silly. tkportersat Posted September 9, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 9, 2013 I have never brought one but don't see why it wouldn't work. I think it would be great to have if you were sitting on the balcony and wanted to be able to hear the baby. When the curtains are closed it gets really dark in the room. kind of random, but has anyone every brought their baby monitor on the cruise?i'm wondering if i should bring one so i can put my guy to bed and step into the hallway to let him fall asleep alone and then go back in but i can listen while i am in the hall... would it work on the ship? anastasia3939 Posted September 9, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 9, 2013 I brought one on our cruise last year so that i could sit on the balcony with the door closed and curtains drawn while my son napped. It worked very well. No interference issues. We will bring it again on our next cruise.
Akitkat118 Posted September 10, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted September 10, 2013 thanks! did you bring a video one or just a cheapo sound one?
OzCanuck Posted September 10, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 10, 2013 We brought one on each of our last three cruises. We had the 2-bdrm suite on NCL, so it was handy to have it in the small bedroom. Worked perfectly. (Just a sound/temperature one).

charliegirlac Posted September 12, 2013 #11 Share Posted September 12, 2013 Glad to hear it worked! I'm planning on doing this in Dec as my bub falls asleep on her own and if there is any noise etc she knows we are there and won't sleep. My parents are in the room next door and we also have a balcony so we were going to test it first, but it is nice to know it does work so I will bother packing it.
