Nieuw Amsterdam balcony for 3

Some quick questions as I can get a good price on a cruise for three of us.

I am looking at a balcony cabin VD and I think the third person sleeps on a fold out sofa bed. Correct? When the sofa bed is open, can you reach the balcony doors? Is the bedding stored in the cabinets above or are those for your use?

Is it possible to request a third chair for the balcony?

Thanks!

My guess is that it would be pretty tight. We had an SA on the Oosterdam, with 2 grandsons who used the sofabed. When it was open, we had to step over the bottom edge of the bed to access the balcony. And that was in a much larger cabin than the one you're wondering about.

I have stayed in the VA cabins on the Nieuw Amsterdam and the Eurodam.

It will be very tight. The cabins are small. The couch is almost right up against the glass, so if it it open you may not be able to get to the balcony. The full length of the pull out will bring you to the desk.

The room steward makes up your beds, so he will have the extra linens.

I would assume that the bed would be folded up during the day. I was on the NCL Spirit with my two sons, and we had the pull out couch for a bed for my eldest, the stewards would fold the bed away during the day. It was a tight squeeze for the three of us. The cabin was a very similar size to the cabin on the NA.

Thanks for the replies!

I kinda figured it was going to be close, but at least we can get to the door even if it is a struggle. We usually eat dinner late so that will give us plenty of time with the sofa bed folded up.

Do you think I will have any luck getting a third chair for the balcony? There seems to be plenty of room on the vd verandah.
