Need SFO Airport Hotel Info

Looking for a hotel for a short one night stay at SFO airport after returning from an Asian cruise. We will be staying in the City for several days pre-cruise, and while familiar with the City, have never stayed anywhere near the airport. Flight gets in from Asia at 8:30pm, and flight home leaves SFO at 8:00am the next morning, so just looking for a clean, decent place in a safe area to get a little bit of sleep. Which city/area around SFO are considered to be the safer/better area? I am seeing hotel locations in S. San Francisco, San Carlos, Burlingame, etc. and not sure about those particular areas. Any info. will be most appreciated, especially those airport neighborhoods that we should avoid.

Burlingame would be the closest. Airport Blvd, I think is the street a little to the south of the airport. Has a Hilton, Embassy Suites, Double Tree, Red Roof Inn, couple more. The neighborhood is fine. Those hotels will have a shuttle.

A look at Google Earth or a similar mapping program helps here.

Take a look at Bay Landings Hotel in Burlingame. Stayed there several times, free parking, pleasant breakfast and free shuttle to the airport if needed. We enjoyed the Elephant Bar restaurant next door, there is also a Mexican food restaurant, and a walk and jogging path along the waterfront with views of the planes landing.

If you have time to kill before your flight, Coyote Point, just south, has a charming little zoo.

CruiserBruce is right about the area. This is not a high crime area. Airport Blvd is a good location for hotel and dining. Google "SFO hotels". San Carlos is too far away. Most of the hotels have shuttles just double check the hotel web site when you make reservations. Most of the hotels are sound proof for your sleeping. If you get mixed up at the airport, there are maps and info desks to help you. Remember to bring a light jacket for evenings.
