PEI--2 questions

Recommended Posts

We will be in Charlottetown on Oct. 11. Where is a good place to have lunch? SIL is looking forward to some PEI mussels.

Also, is flash photography allowed inside Green Gables? I thought I read that it was, but something someone said about most museums not allowing it has me wondering.

Thanks,

Kathy

Lobster On the Wharf is located on the wharf adjacent to the pier the cruise ship docks at. You can see the restrauant while on board the ship. They have been there for many years and even rebuilt the place when it burnt down a few years ago. They also do a big business in packaing lobsters and other seafoods for export. They know seafood and their longevity speaks for itself. There website is http://www.lobsteronthewharf.com/

Another seafood restaraunt with a tremendous reputation is Water Prince Corner Shop & Lobster Pound. It's literally a renovated old house at the corner of Water & Prince Sts. They are one short block away from Lobster on the Wharf. From the upper decks you could likely see it from the ship also. Again, they specialize in seafood and have been there a very long time. There web page is http://www.waterprincelobster.ca/

I am a born and raised Islander and I don't eat seafood, really can't stand the smell, so I do not speak from personal experience. However, both of these restaraunts receive raves from Islanders and with the quantity of restaraunts in Charlottetown, you can rest assured a bad one wouldn't have survive as long as these have.

Enjoy the Island.

There were no restrictions on photography at Green Gables a few years ago.

Friends came into port last summer here in Charlottetown & my plan was to take them to Water Prince for lunch, but it seems that since Regis & Kelly visited here several years ago, more and more people have come to learn of that little hidden jem - the line up was out onto the sidewalk.

There are several other great choices all within walking distance of the pier - you can search Murphy Group of Restaurants for a few good choices. We ended up going to Gahan House (some great beer brewed on site as well); directly across the street is another great choice, Olde Dublin Pub. Both of those restaurants would be about 4 blocks from the pier - a stone's throw to St Dunstan's Basilica if you're planning a visit there.
