Pre-cruise hotel needed

We have two nights before cruise at Fort Lauderdale. we are looking for a hotel which is close to port everglade, by saying that means we'd like to walk to the ship from the hotel, we don't want to rent a car. And also some restaurants are near the hotel, better in walking distance.

Any recommendation? Thanks for help.

By the way, we'll have a car rental after cruise, is the airport is the only good place to pick up or we can have better choice?

Thanks again.

You really can't walk into that terminal and will need a taxi to drop you off or a shuttle. It is too dangerous to walk on foot.

There are many hotels within 10 to 15 minutes from the port so I would not limit yourself. Again, you can't walk to the ship anyway.

I would have recommended Embassy Suites which is near a lot of restaurants.

The 3 closest hotels to the the terminals are on SE 17th St.: Renaissance, Holiday Inn Express, Extended Stay. If you are sailing on Princess your terminal may be close enough to walk from these. You'll be able to tell if you walk up the big 17th St bridge and it's the first ship you see. If it isn't, take a $10 taxi. There are lots of restaurants in the area. There are lots of car rental places near the port and some of them will even pick you up...just do a google search of Port Everglades, and then "search nearby" for car rentals.

It's not cool attempting to walk to the ship.

With two nights you need to decide what you want to do rather than being as close as possible to Port Everglades. The airport, the beach and Port Everglades are all compact and a taxi is pretty inexpensive, so don't limit yourself to just the port area.

Would you like to spend a lot of time at the beach or would you rather go shopping and dine at different restaurants?

Both of those hotels, as well as all those mentioned are good choices and popular with cruisers. They aren't on the beach but in Dec, you might not be interested in that.

You will find lots of threads here recommending all those mentioned as well as others along the beach. But anything on or nearby 17th street will have you close to the port for an inexpensive and quick cab ride to the ship's pier.
