Fort Lauderdale Port Everglades Information

For visitors, the airports and Port can be a little confusing. Here's how it all works:

The cruise ship is located in Port Everglades Florida. This is a huge complex in the Fort Lauderdale area with many cruise lines. The port is located just a few minutes away from the Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL) and taxis between the two are around $20. To the south (29 miles along Interstate Highway 95) of the cruise terminal is Miami Airport (MIA) and taxis between the two are about $77. To the north (49 miles along Interstate Highway 95) of the cruise terminal is West Palm Beach Airport (PBI). All three airports and the cruise terminal are located along the east coast of Florida.

The cruise terminal is very efficient and once you pick up your luggage and make your way through customs and out of the building, taxis are numerous outside, along with shuttle busses, shuttle vans, as well as private vehicles waiting for friends. Before settling on a taxi you may want to consider reserving a shuttle online in advance. I posted some links that may be helpful:

Note: Passengers who will be having someone in a private vehicle picking them up at the cruise terminal should be aware that Port Everglades is a secure facility with a main gate and police. Posted signs warn that vehicles are subject to random inspection and firearms are not allowed in the port. We include this because Florida allows firearms to be carried in vehicles without a permit and many Florida residents are armed. You're ride may be denied access to the port if there is a firearm in the vehicle. Remind them to leave the gun at home for the day. If a shuttle or private vehicle is picking you up, be sure to exchange cell phone numbers with your ride to be able to locate each other.
