Back to Back Cruises Question

We just recently booked our first B2B also. I was told there is no need to pack up. Just leave everything in your room. Near the end of the first cruise you will get a letter from Guest Services letting you know where to meet during debarkation, usually in the main atrium. Someone from the ship will walk you down the walkway to customs, once cleared you will be walked to the embarkation area to get your new Sail & Sign card and let back on before any other group is let on board. We had about 45 minutes on the ship alone before the first group was let on. The whole process took us only 30 minutes from leaving the ship to clearing through customs, getting the new Sail & Sign cards and being let back on board. ;)

Do you remember what time you had to meet the rep to get off the ship?

It is mandatory that you go to each muster drill. It is considered a separate cruise. That would be like saying I stopped at that stop sign once before now I am not going to have to do it. I have been cruising for 26 years but have been told that each muster drill is a drill I have to attend. This has been discussed many times on board here with some saying they hide out. Why? It is a rule and only takes 1/2 hour.

I would love to do a back to back someday, especially with the shorter cruises. It seems like a great way to squeeze in a few extra vacation days!

When booking a B2B do you have to call a PVP? I really prefer booking online, but it doesn't see like there's a good way to do it and get the same cabin.

I always book my B2B's online. Just do a check on both cruises, then a courtesy hold. That's really all a PVP would do for you.

I find it easier to call a Carnival rep (I don't have a specific PVP) when booking a B2B just because they can see all available cabins on both cruises.

And maybe also make note (link it) as a B2B? We always use a PVP and our B2B have always been linked. Not sure if Carnival automatically links B2B's or not since they are 2 separate cruises.

We just did a b2b on the Fantasy. There was a group of 24 of us on first cruise. 3 of us did b2b. 2 of us told our cabin steward what we were doing and we left our luggage in the room (tagged for our new room) and he delivered them to the new room. We just went to guest services at 9:00am on the changeover day. The other person did not tell her room steward and carried her luggage down to guest services herself. They did take her luggage to the new room. We were escorted off the ship, scanned our sign and sail card as we got off and then went straight through customs, then escorted right back onto ship. We were then given our new sign and sail cards and away we went. We were free to walk all over ship. I did purchased liquor on the first cruise and it was delivered to my room the last night of that cruise. We were unaware of the fact that we could have carried on a bottle of wine for each of the cruises. But we did carry 1 each on first cruise.. We were also delivered a bottle of bubbly and a plate of chocolates..

Very nice and would love to do back to back again.

We do not go to the second drill, we tell the room stewert and he tells us to stay hidden no public places so we stay in room or balcony.

Please don't...

Cabin stewards are supposed to check all their cabins. If an officer is doing a "look behind" and find this happened, you will be asked to join muster and your steward will be asked to find other employment.

Great to hear about switching the bottle! I've been on 3 b2b's and never knew you could do that! See STILL learning things on here! lol....and JANA...Will be checking to see if you sing on our b2b! lol

Switching depends on the Maitre'd. Some permit it and some don't.

I did mine online. Did a couple of mock bookings to see what cabins were available, made note of them and when I booked I made sure I wasn't going to be interrupted and booked them both within a matter of a minute.

I was catching up on this thread and have another question .I sort of have a B2B scheduled for October. I'll be on the Elation one week. It debarks on Saturday and then I will get on the Conquest on Sunday. I booked these both at the same time through Carnival.

Some of you have mentioned getting champagne or a fruit basket as recognition of your B2B. Has anyone booked a 2 ship B2B and received anything? I wasn't expecting anything, but am now curious about this.

The B2B cabin gifts come from the hotel director so the second ship hotel director really has no reason to gift you.

I doubt very much that you'll receive anything because it is not a real B2B.

I bought some liquor at one of the ports and turned it in at the desk as was requested by security. My SO was with me so I couldn't lie and say it wasn't alcohol.

You are given a paper with the info to be given to your room steward on the last night of your cruise. My cabin steward said he wasn't allowed to give it to us till the end of the 2nd cruise. Bummer.

Some say if you buy liquor on the ship the last night after 8 PM that they allow you to take it to your cabin. Hopefully, your S & S card is not marked as B2B.

I have a few questions too.

What does it mean when you say you did Duty Free?

Do you get free nuts/fruit basket and champange for doing B2B or is that just for people who are higher on the list for number of cruises?

We are planning to get off the ship and escort our kids to the airport. How will that work if we are supposed to be in the group going thru customs?

THanks!
