Passports in port

Recommended Posts

Another thread here (on vodka) mentions that if you plan to use a credit card in St Petersburg, make sure you have your passport. Is this the case here and in any other ports? I thought I read here somewhere that passports were collected on the ship and not returned until the end of the cruise.

And along those lines, do passports get stamped in each port?

I tried searching on this subject and the search feature was acting balky.

Thanks for the help!

Happy cruising!

The cruise line did not keep our passports (US). I took mine with me into all the ports just in case and left the copy in the room safe. The only port that was stamped was St. Petersburg. It was pretty easy getting off and on, passports really weren't even looked at in the other ports, just our cruise cards.

We took our passports in all ports--just in case something happened and we missed the ship. We wore them in holders around our necks. Needed passport to buy vodka in Russia.
