Stinger-pr Posted September 26, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2013 I will be visiting PR for a few days post cruise. Any ideas what to see or do if it is raining. Where will you be staying? Are you renting a car or strictly taxi/bus/walking distance?
syr101 Posted September 26, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted September 26, 2013 Staying at the LaConcha - No rental care yet. If it rains should I look into it. Suggestions please.
wineandbeach Posted September 26, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 26, 2013 We wondered that ourselves when we had a rainy day in San Juan- one suggestion is to walk down a couple blocks to Tijuanas and try as many different flavors of margaritas as you can! It really doesn't usually rain completely all day there - it does on and off. When it wasn't raining we just went to the pool or ocean. If it starts raining again, you won't feel it while you are in the water.
sail7seas Posted September 27, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 27, 2013 Put on a rain poncho and see the forts, go shopping, stop for a leisurely lunch. :)
OCruisers Posted September 27, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 27, 2013 Go to the Rain Forest! It normally rains at some point while you're there anyway. :D LuLu ~~~~
Stinger-pr Posted September 28, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 28, 2013 Usually, you get downpours that last from a few minutes to a couple of hours. But they tend to happen after noon. It's not really usual to have a completely rained out day. so you'll be ok as far "sun time" is concerned. If you like shopping and venturing a bit out of the tourist zone, there is a huge mall about 15 minutes from la Concha called Plaza las Americas. Not usually listed among tourist attractions but worth it if you're a shopper. Prices are about the same as Stateside. If you stay on foot, there are a couple of buses that pass right in front of la Concha that take you straight into OSJ. You have a few dinning options within walking distance including Latin Cafe (local/regional), Cielito Lindo (mexican), Tayzan (asian/sushi), Pelayo (Spanish) and Yerba Buena (Caribbean), among others. Nole0202 Posted September 29, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 29, 2013 If you are concerned about rain, try renting a car and spending a couple days on the west side of the island. It's much drier and has beautiful beaches. Also, Ponce is a much smaller OSJ, but as beautiful and quiet with great resturants.
