Rainbowfalls Posted October 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2013 I have some coworkers who would like to cruise, however they are not natural born citizens. They all have green cards, and they would be bringing along their teenage children. I am so confused by looking up on carnivals website on what is required or if they will have to apply for a visa or if they are ok with their greencard, passport and ids. Also their children were not born in the US. IF they have to take a passport do the passports have to be of their home country or of the us? Starlight Durban Cruising Posted October 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2013 Green Card holders will travel with their passport (from country that they are currently a citizen of) and their Green Card. Coming back into the US is no different for them, they just show both of these documents upon arrival in the US. One cannot have both a Green Card and a US Passport - they are mutually exclusive. They may need visas for the countries they wish to visit while on the cruise, or they may be covered by the cruise-line's blanket visa/manifest. SadieN Posted October 8, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 8, 2013 They would follow the visa requiremnts for counrty they are citizens of--ie If they are UK citizens and visitind Mexico they would have to follow the rules for UK citizens traveling to Mexico. Coming back to the US it is interesting. Some places Green card holders go thru with US citizens and other places they go thru the non-US line. Sadie is right, with a general addition to the (UK) example given: 1. Follow the visa rules for UK tourists, and then 2. See if there is a visa waiver for US Green Card holders going to Mexico. A further example: South African tourists need a tourist visa to visit Canada, but if that South African passport holder has a Green Card, then no tourist visa is required for Canada.
