When does Carnival assign guarantees?

My only experience with guarantee cabins has been with RCCL, who generally (but not always) assign guarantee cabins soon after final payment has been made. Can anyone comment on how Carnival's timing for guarantee cabin assignment works? I'd love for it to be before the no-refund date, but I suspect it won't be :-)

Sometimes your cabin assignment can go clear up until you check in. Our last guarantee showed up about 3 weeks before sailing date.

It really can be any time up until arrival at the port. I usually do guarantees for short, cheap cruises - the last one I had my assignment a few weeks before sailing, and the one before that I didn't get an assignment until I showed up at the pier. Luckily, both were excellent cabins on quiet decks. :)

The two times we have done guarantee about two weeks before the cruise

We got ours about a month before our sail date - the same time I noticed Inside cabins weren't coming up as an option for 3 people any more.

As noted above, it could be anytime from day 1, until you arrive at the port. It's my opinion that USUALLY, the later the assignment, the better your chance of a good upgrade. When I've had the cabin assigned at the port, the upgrade has always been EXCELLENT! :cool:

I'm booked for a 11/1 cruise and got our cabin assingnment last week.

I'm new to cruising and. Just paid today in full through carnival online and it gave me our cabin numbers. Does that mean it's guaranteed?

We got ours 3 days after we booked.

I did a guarantee once and got assigned a cabin then two days later it went back to TBA. It was another week before we got our assignment.

I got mine about a month prior to cruising. Was a great cabin.
