Crew Turnovers

We have a cruise scheduled on the Navigator in March '14 following the Alaskan cruise taken in late August. I hope to see some of the same familiar smiley faces of our crew friends we left behind….Gami, Elvis, Alberto, Donald, Joel, Sherwin to name a few. Some were taking 2 month leaves beginning in Oct. or Nov. What is the length of their hiatus? Are they usually assigned to the same ship upon their return, have a choice in their assignment or reassigned to another one of Regent’s or Oceania’s fleet?

It has been our experience that the answer is "all of the above". Many crew members, "Elvis" for example, has been on the Navigator for a long time. While many crew members are on vacation for two months, some are asked to return early or to extend their vacation to coordinate with other schedules. Although we have not seen a lot of crew members switching between Oceania and Regent, it can happen. Sometimes it is requested by the person -- other times by the cruise line.

 

The same goes with switching between Regent ships. One of our favorite servers on the Mariner was changed to the Navigator. He is now on the Voyager (or was the last time I checked).

 

I'm sure you will see some familiar smiley faces on the Navigator in March:)

One of the great things about cruising with Regent is getting to know some of the employees then seeing over and over again. Some stay with the same ship, but some rotate between the ships. Our favorite sommolier has been on Mariner and Navigator.

There are a couple of waiters that we initially met on Regent but who we have seen on Silversea since then.

Regent and Oceania have been known to interchange crew members.
