Gurus: ? about upgrading after price changes

I have never understood exactly how this works.

Assuming final payment has been made, if I booked an outside room for $500 pp, and that went up to $750 pp, and balcony rooms were now $850 pp, would I have to pay $350 pp for the upgrade, or $100 pp?

In other words, does it go by the current price of the room, or the amount paid?

Thanks in advance!

It goes by the amount you paid, which would be $350pp in your example.
