Spending cash

It is hard to know what you like to spend money on, so I'll just give you a few ideas on general pricing.

Sodas ~$2
Alcohol ~$5 and up
Gambling - well you know how much you will spend :) in the casino
Tour of the ship ~$55
Off-ship tours (run by the cruise line) ~$30 to $100 depending on what you want to do.
Photos from the cruise line photo gallery ~$20 per photo
Cruise shop - T-shirts cost $10 to $20 each. Lots of other gifts there.
Tips at 15% are added, but people do tip more for good service.

If you search for "Fun Times" on this site you will find examples of the document that is put in your cabin each evening with daily activities and some pricing.

It will vary depending on several things. Did you pre-pay gratuities or will you pay via sail and sign account? By cash, do you mean "folding money" or do you include charges against a credit card? You can use a credit card or cash for your sail and sign account. Do you plan on doing an excursion in Cozumel or just shopping? In reality, how much to budget for a cruise is going to depend on your habits more than an opinion of a stranger. Maybe if you could provide a little more detail it would help.
This is my first cruise and I would like to know how much money to allot for spending on a 4 day cruise to Cozumel?
Welcome to Cruise Critic Papillion.

When you check-in at the cruise pier you will receive a ship ID card which will be linked with your credit card and serve as currency aboard the ship. It's good to bring some cash for tips, taxis, odds and ends. Maybe bring an extra $60 a day. You won't spend it, but, it's good to have as back up.

Spend on board varies enormously, depending mainly on your drinking habits & whether you plan to use ship's excursions, but also whether you use the spa, extra-pay speciality restaurants, casino & such.
If you can trust yourselves not to over-spend (you keep a copy of chits that you sign for drinks etc, and on many ships you can dial up a bang-up-to-date total on the TV in your cabin, so you can keep an eye on your spend) it's so very very much easier to let your credit card be charged, & you'll not have to join a potentially long & slow line to check-out at the end of the cruise.
But do post here if you propose to use a credit card with a low spend limit or a debit card, there are pitfalls.

With a card you only need cash for spending ashore (take enough USD, using an ATM ashore is likely to lumber you with big notes in local currency), for any room-service tips (not the same as the daily tips/charge) & mebbe the casino. Most outlets ashore accept cards for all but small purchases like a beet or the offerings of a market stall.
If you have an excess of cash near the end of the cruise (you wish :D) you can pay any amount in at guest relations & reduce the sum charged to your card.

As usual, I've managed to make it all sound complicated
But it's actually very easy. :)
