NY in Winter

We are planning a family cruise and have decided on the Splendor out of NY in January.

Can anyone tell me what the first few days are like weather wise until we get to Fl?

I would either bring long pants and a sweater or stay inside the ship!

The first and last day will be cold for sure. They should have the pool covered on both of those days. The other days could be anything - depends on how warm it is in the south at that time.

Depending upon mother nature first two and last two might be cold.

 

This is why we always take our winter cruises out of Florida.

It will be too cold to be out on deck for the first two and last two days but they compensate by having more activities indoors. F,Oneida will be cool as well as the Bahamas. Better then the sweltering heat of the summers but i guess it depends on what you like to do

We cruised out of NYC last March. It snowed during our muster drill which was held outside. The first day was cold but the hot tubs were great with all that steam rising off them! Just bring your robe with you and you will be fine. One of the pools has a cover. There will be lots of inside activities available too. The second day we were just off the coast of the Carolinas and it was beginning to warm up. Hope this helps.

we cruised on Norwegian out of new York in febuary few years back and we had a blizzard that dumped 12 inches in new York we did not leave port until the next day which was a beautiful cold sunny day the cruise director had a snowman making contest next to the pools we had our coats on and pictures were awesome!! kids had a blast.. at least we were on vacation...it was a 14 day cruise to carribean...AWESOME

goofycruiser, weren't you on the Miracle Panama cruise with us. Someone made a snowman on the lido deck. It was definetly cold but we had a great time and were able to get out on our balcony.

C&d: we were on the Mar Panama cruise too. Sail away in the snow was awesome! (Course we live in Arizona:rolleyes:) Took pictures with that same snowman in Serenity area.
