bling19572010 Posted October 24, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2013 Does anyone know if Coconuts in FLL still serves Scoobies? It's not on their online menu. I'll be in FLL in December and I must have those Scoobies!

bling19572010 Posted October 24, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted October 24, 2013 What is a Scoobie? Did you call Coconuts and ask? I sent them an email and haven't heard back. Scoobies are blue crab claws in EVOO, butter, pepper flakes, green onion and they are to die for! They are served with bread as an appetizer. I have been eating blue crabs for most of my life; and, I never heard of EVOO.

jackdiamond Posted October 25, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 25, 2013 Extra Virgin Olive Oil, I presume. Interestingly, I have never heard of anyone eating blue crabs in this fashion. As a matter of fact, I steam them with pepper, kosher salt, and crab seasoning. I then eat them with white vinegar or drawn butter, always making certain that I caress them with the seasoning with which they were steamed. royalcruz Posted October 25, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 25, 2013 From what I can recall, Scoobies have never been on the online or print menu...it is on the specials board. Availability and pricing may depend on the season.
BlueHerons Posted October 25, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 25, 2013 What are the restaurant prices for them? I don't know because I don't like them enough to pay those prices but Fresh Market on Federal Highway had them for $32.99 and $39.99 a pound yesterday. For me? Bring on the King Crab. bling19572010 Posted October 25, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted October 25, 2013 Yes, EVOO is Extra Virgin Olive Oil and they are blue crab pincher claws, sauteed in EVOO, garlic, butter, shallots & crushed red pepper flakes. They are wonderful and served with bread to soak up the extra sauce. I don't remember the price last December but I hope to have them again this December before my cruise. In fact I had them before the cruise and then again after the cruise. I live in the midwest and fresh seafood isn't readily available so maybe that's why I enjoyed them so much.
