Should we upgrade? Price dropped

Has anyone upgraded after the price has dropped? Our cruise is $80 cheaper on the casino rate so I am thinking of calling to upgrade to a balcony.

Our price dropped $110 and then I was able to upgrade to an extended balcony for only $22 total for both of us :D. So in the end we moved up 4 decks and to an extended for a net savings of $88 :D

We usually prefer to get a price reduction when we can get one. However, during this last sale, prices on our cabins weren't lower, but there were free deck upgrades. We were able to move from Upper deck to Lido (our preferred cabin deck) for approx no change in net price on all three upcoming cruises!

What is a spa balcony?

On the newest ships (Splendor, Dream, Magic, Breeze), there are Cloud 9 Spa rooms that include special access to a therapy pool (fancy hot tub) and thermal rooms (fancy saunas). Sunshine has a mini version with no therapy pool. The staterooms are the same as any other, except for different decor and a couple of other extremely minor things. These types of rooms are not available on Sensation. As a side note, some ships have a spa deck but not a Cloud 9 spa, so there is no special access for spa rooms on those ships.

As far as your original question, it's tough to say. I wouldn't use a balcony very much, but if it were cheap enough to upgrade, I would take it. I don't know how much extra it would be for you, & I don't know where you're at now. My friends & I just upgraded to an oceanview once the prices dropped to a point where it was only $20 to upgrade.

What is a casino rate? I've never heard of that before, but several people have mentioned it here lately. I never see that listed on Carnival's booking engine. Is it a special rate offered to guests who have previously gambled plenty?

Casino Rate is the lowest rate you can get. You must gamble to get it. Thanks for the post.
