I have never been asked my name or asked for Identification whenever I have walked up to the tix sales window at wdw. Unless you book your room and tix and stay at a wdw hotel they have no clue who you are when buying your tix.

Again, if you are trying to get a discount (such as Florida residents purchasing a Florida resident pass), you are asked for ID to prove that you qualify for the discount.

May I step in here? Thanks.

So, if I am from Alaska, which I am, and fly to Florida to take a cruise, which I do often, and then add on one or two days pre or post cruise at wdw, which would be lots of fun, and I know that I will need to buy daily one park per day tix for that brief trip because I am not staying on property nor am I eligible for a multi day pass and I choose to buy them at the park upon entrance and will be paying cash....I have to show ID?

I don't believe the previous poster was asking about Florida resident tix, my take was just a general ticket ID question was what he/she was interested in an answer to.

In my experience, I have never been ID'd upon entrance with one day paper tix nor have I needed to use the finger print thing for a one day tix.

Last time I did this a human scanned my paper tix to the side of the turnstile. This of course was after they searched my bags I believe.

No, anyone can purchase a single day pass.

thanks as this is the point I was trying to make. I certainly realize that wdw is not ccl but in response to a poster a few post back who said he called wdw and asked if he could return, it would seem that even if wdw did ban a guest then that same guest could still just return with a one day paper tix anyway.

unless of course the banned guest was deemed to be a serious threat and more precautions were instituted for that particular guest, wdw could ban you and you just return anyway.

one reason why absolutely nobody should ever let their guard down.

Normally, no, you would not have to show ID. They may ask for ID if paying with a credit card (which, IMO, should be done with any purchase with a CC). As an FYI, you can buy a multi-day pass as an out-of-state resident (up to 10 days if I remember correctly), you just don't get to pay what Florida residents pay. I've even heard (though not confirmed) that they sale an out-of-state annual pass as well.

If anyone want to know prices, I can post a pic in December when I activate my annual pass then.

I have bought out of state annual passes and multi day tix when staying on site and yes I know you don't have to stay on site to get them but they would have my name if I stay on site or buy an annual pass. Of course I will be corrected if I am wrong but I believe this whole thing with wdw passes had to do with someone believing they were banned from wdw. The discussion is about how could they keep you out if you just walk up and buy a tix with cash.

On a ship it would be possible for them to have you on file and deny you a tix but theoretically a theme park would not really be able to enforce a ban for the most part.

Just did seaworld and had to show ID and give a fingerprint. I was using the Florida discount rate but seemed overkill. I can understand proof of residency but a fingerprint? I was using a pre purchased paper ticket.

Sure hope it was to check for sex offenders or something? I didn't have to remove my shoes at least :)

I was just at the Magic Kingdom on Nov. 1st. We bought 1 day tickets for each of the 3 of us. I had to show ID with my credit card purchase, but neither DH or DD had to show ID. There was no identifying information on any of the 3 tickets - just different Disney characters on each, but we did have to place a finger on an ID pad on the way in (I assume it was to assign a fingerprint to each ticket, so they couldn't be handed to someone else to use for admission...). Nobody inside the park would have known my husband or daughter's names.

I pretty much always have to show my ID at Sea World Orlando, as for some odd reason my platinum Busch Gardens pass that works at every other property in the chain won't work there. They also require a picture ID at the parking lot toll booth before they'll let me have platinum (preferred) parking. I've just learned to always have my drivers license in my hand when approaching that property... :-)

The fingerprint, boimetrics, or whatever else is used is simply to ensure that you are using your ticket and not someone else's. It's about the money, not sex offenders.

If you try to buy an annual/seasonal pass, they do check for sex offender status. You will get your money refunded.

I doubt you would have had to show ID if you paid cash though. And did they input your ID number into some sort of computer? Probably not. Just sayin that a ban from a theme park is for the most part highly unenforceable. Also you have some sort of passes for seaworld correct? They probably just wanted to make sure you are the valid owner of the pass and are entitled to the perks associated with it. Highly doubtful that a person paying cash to park and buy a daily with cash needs to show ID

Wow I didn't realize bringing up being banned from WDW would cause such a debate. As a previous poster stated, the Orange County Sheriffs Department wrote out the the citation and my Picture, Thumbprint, and all of my information to make sure I wouldn't be permitted back onto the property. Every time I've gone to disney though I've had my name and ID checked, but as previous posters have said that is because of my residency.

Not sure if I'll be allowed back or not, but I was banned from CCL because of an incident on my wedding cruise. Long story short, a couple of nights before my wedding stop at the port of Jamaica the guys in my party decided to take me on a guys night around the ship. I drank way too much and fell asleep at the bar. Nothing was really said about the incident for the rest of the cruise by any member of CCL. We had our wedding and went about our cruise as normal. Two weeks after getting back on land I received a letter from CCL that read:

Mr. xxxx,

This letter is to inform you that you will not be able to sail onboard any Carnival Cruise Lines vessel in the future. We regret this decision, but feel it is necessary to ensure the enjoyment of our guests. Your attempt to book a future cruise will result in cancellation and a possible loss of deposit monies.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely,

This 4 sentence letter is all I received to inform me that I was banned. I haven't tried to sail with CCL since then, but would be curious to see if they lift bans.

WOW, there's the number to call...if anyone is truly interested to see about getting unbanned?

Okay everyone- an update on my friend. She spent about 2 hours on the phone with Carnival yesterday trying to find out if she could attend our embarkation day wedding. They are allowing her to! :) Then she asked if there was any chance she could sail and they said absolutely not. ;) We're fine with that though- I'm just so glad she can come to the wedding! :)

All in all, it looks like once you are banned, you are banned. They would not budge for her at all.

Hhhmmmmmm very odd....something is missing.

Like did she damage something?

Geeze, she absolutely did not do damage to the ship. You guys are such conspiracy theorists some times! ;) It's much easier to get banned than you think- trust me!

This made me laugh because I am "banned for life" from the Walmart in Elmira, NY for throwing a pack of gum. Well, actually I caught the pack of gum that was thrown at me. Next thing I know, we were escorted out and asked to never return. We were told that they had taken out photos with their security cameras and that if they ever saw us in there again we would be prosecuted for trespassing.

It still makes me laugh, it was all so ridiculous. Just a smallish man with the title of night manager on a power trip, who couldn't stand it that some people were having fun on a random Tuesday. We weren't even drunk or loud. Just throwing a pack of gum, that we intended to buy, as part of a running joke.
