Not sure where to ask this question but here goes. Our 1st Caribbean cruise, only others Baja & Mexican Riviera. Our group of 8 is trying to decide which of the 3 ports (Belize, Cozumel or Roatan) offers the best beach/snorkel experience? Some are 1st time snorkelers. HELP!!

Roatan...Go to West Bay beaches. coral within 50 yards or less of shore.

In Cozumel visit either Playa Corona or Chankanaab (northen end) for decent beaches and snorkeling. Moeny Bar has little or no beach and snorkeling while good for experienced migth be a bit tough on a noobie.

Belize only snorkeling is via a ship excursion to Geoff's Cay or Bannister Island. Or a private excursion to Shark-Ray Alley ( Caye Caulker)

In Coz Chankanaab and Money Bar have the best shore snorkeling; if you want a snorkel tour we used Eagle Ray a few years ago and were very happy.

Any sandy beach with waves will have poor snorkeling -- the water is clouded by the sand and motion and there's no rocks/reefs for the fish to habitate.

Lots of beach clubs in Coz to fit your desires/budget. For small, quiet, and all-inclusive check out Nachi Cocom. For large pay-as-you-go check out Paradise Beach.

Good luck! :)

Thanks! I will definitely show this to my group. I heard Roatan has the best snorkeling of the three, your thoughts on this?
