No pressure today to get off the ship early, arrival into Nassau wasn't until 11 AM. We made a visit to the gym, ate breakfast at Lido, and went out on deck to grab some pictures.

We can see Nassau out in the distance:

We had plans to go to the British Colonial Hilton to use their beach and pool facilities. If you booked ahead through Island Marketing (I think that was the name of the place you booked through) it was $60 pp, then you received a voucher for food/drink for $40 pp. If you just walked up and bought at the desk, it is $65 pp and you get get the $40pp voucher. I decided to wait until I saw the weather that day and pay the $5 extra.

So, we went ahead, got our things together, and went out

If you walk to the British Colonial Hilton (as we did), just go towards Senor Frogs and then turn left. Then turn right first street.

Sorry I did not get a picture of the outside and entrance of the BCH. I thought that I did? But, I did get plenty of pictures while on the property.

When we arrived into the lobby, wow. It was crowded. 3 people working at the desk, but only 2 really - seemed that the 3rd person was going in and out of the room. The lines were long, and when we finally made it up to a rep, she processed us to a point, but said we would have to go to the other rep on her right, and she would get to us when she was finished with the current customer. She said that rep was the only one processing the day passes. So, we waited until that person was finished with the current customer, and the couple in line behind them said "I believe we were next". The rep told him that she would be with him in just a moment, she had to finish our information first. She put our names on a list, gave us a wrist band and whatever else she did and we were finally on our way. They definitely need to have more people work and a better to keep that organized. I'm sure the couple thought we were cutting the line, but it was just the way that they organized it. We waited for a long time in the other line, only to be sent to another line. There were no signs marking which line for which purpose, and people were checking in to hotel, checking out, etc.

The BCH (from the back of the building)

I think the temp. made it to the low 90's that day.

I thought that the BCH was nice, you could go to beach or pool area. Anyway, the woman who brought us the menu came back to ask us if we wanted anything yet:

Bob and Cheri walked in - I was not expecting them. I waved to Cheri and they came over and talked to us. I misunderstood them and thought they were going to the rum factory, but they must have went in and purchased the pass and came out to sit on the opposite side of the pool. Scott ended up going over and talking to Bob and I fell asleep  I had not been sleeping so well at night, plus the sun probably made me tired. Anyway, I woke and Cheri and I gabbed for a while, and someone had given Cheri some of their leftover voucher, she let me have a Bahama Papa :D It was delicious.

Oh, food you ask? We did split an order of Nachos ($8) and left the rest of the money for drink! DH went to ask how much we had left, the guy at the bar said we had about $25, then when he went to get us more beer, the guy said we only had enough for one beer. So I don't know if they take the tip out automatically, or it is added to each purchase - the menu does state items subject to a 15% tip. So not sure how that worked. Oh well, we did have our fill of drink. And we split the nachos. LOL

Another area in the grass to relax:

IMG_1274_zps75b931f6.jpg

I did ask DH about giving tip money before we left, but Cheri heard me and said that they had left enough for the both of us. I personally think that they get the tip out of the voucher money, but not sure, so if anyone has experience with this place and knows the answer, please let me know for next time. I think I will return, it was a nice place. Service was not the best, Bob had asked for a glass of ice on two separate occasions and they never did get it.

I will continue on later...have to go to work.

What time did you guys hit the Lido for breakfast. My DW and I like to beat the buffet crowd where ever we go!

Well, we went early for coffee, like when I took this picture it was maybe around 7 or 7:30.

The later it gets, the busier it gets. If you waited until 8 or 8:30, its packed.

We left with Bob and Cheri. My DH had a hunger for and wanted to get some conch, so we walked around to look for a place that sold conch fritters. We about gave up and went through the building on the way back to the ship, when he did find someone selling conch fritters. He was happy then.

When we went back to the ship, we went and showered, changed clothes and met Bob and Cheri at the buffet for dinner. It was not good, the variety was terrible. Cheri went off for pizza, I had some shrimp and beef thing, the taste was not terrible but not great. I really could not believe how little of a selection there was. DH went to get us a salad. We did not get dessert.

Once we had eaten, we went back to our cabin to get ready for Halloween festivities.

Room steward had all ready done his job.

Susan and Bo:

We goofed around and had some professional pictures taken. They all looked terrible, so we didn't buy any.

We went down to the casino bar for a while because it was so crowded in the atrium area and sometimes I get freaked out by crowds.

Our friends Cheri and Bob were picked to be finalists in the costume judging contest, so we headed to the Taj Mahal theatre at 11:00.

and the winners were:

A couple from our roll call! I think her name was Diane, I forget her husband's name. They did a great job with their costumes. She really played the part too, with creepy looks! Good for them! (Not sure what they won)

IMG_1336_zpsfe86efd3.jpg

After this was over, we went with Bo and Susan to the Piano Bar. Susan wanted to sing a song, took the microphone and Larry told her "you're done". LOL! I had to help her go to the restroom, that costume was just a tad difficult to get in and out of! After we left the piano bar, we went to Beauties Dance Club. I think we were out until around 1:30. Late for us! We really had a fun day.

We went on the Carnival Legend but the others have been from the Conquest line so good to see this review. Going out of Maryland at that time, I would have thought it would be cold. Hey we just had snow in Illinois.

Yes, it was cool going out of Maryland. On sail day it was sunny but it was somewhere in the 55-60 range, I think. Daytime was nice, but out on deck when the sun went down was too cold for me. The next day we didn't go out on Lido until close to 2:00 and it was nice by then. We had wonderful weather all up until our last sail day when it was gloomy and rainy. Our sail date was October 27.

We had snow here in Ohio too :(

Before I post the Fun Times for Freeport Friday, want to mention the future cruise desk person. We originally inquired on Wednesday evening, and the person was very nice to sit down with us in a nearby lounge and tell us what rates were available. He even showed us the laptop screen, asked us about cabin location preference, etc. But, he said the prices may change tomorrow, as it was the last day of a sale (nice that he was looking out for us), and we may be able to get a better deal tomorrow. So he asked us to go to the Guest Services desk Thursday, before we left to go out to port, and ask for him by name.

So, just before we left for port on Thursday, we go to guest services. They gave me a strange look when I make this request. They dial a phone and hand it to me. The cruise desk guy (sorry, I forget his name) says to just get in touch with him when we get back for the day . At this point, I start to feel like I'm bothering him. But, I don't think anything else about it and leave for port. He did give me his extension number and told me that I could call him from my cabin.

Okay, later that night, we just happen to be on deck 2 and he is at the future cruise desk. I had been in the library and logged in to the Carnival website earlier, checked out the prices myself, and told him I just wanted to book under past guest rate. Had my cabin picked out and everything. At this point, he just had to take payment information, etc. Finally, we got it done! Seemed like a little bit of a hassle, but I did get my $100 OBC. :) Plus, we met two couples on this cruise who are using my F&F certificates to come along on the cruise with us! Worked out well in the end!!!

We wake up Friday and go to the Lido for breakfast. I was getting so sick of the buffet for breakfast by this time! Should have ordered room service, in hindsight. Or at least, should have tried something else - but it seemed I always had the same thing - eggs, turkey sausage, grits, maybe a few potatoes. Of course, also coffee.

I was surprised by Freeport. It was my first time there, and heard it was a very industrialized port. So was thinking it was very ugly.

I just loved the trees!
