Oh, I totally disagree....the offending party would not necessarily know the reason for others laughing...especially since they are sooo very, very clueless  I am also certain they wouldn't snipe at a complete stranger on a public forum, for finding extreme humor in others childish behavior. I wouldn't be sending out the bulk of my clothing because I wouldn't be washing them the same way at home as they do on board. I'd be selective on what I sent out. Many cruises lets me know their experience level for their answers to questions and inquiries. Which lines they have experiences with. I have learned about older/other ships/cruises by looking them up, etc.... I like the ones that link to pics or reviews. However many people use it to boast and after awhile get to know something about frequent posters. Some of them I trust their experiences 100% and others would say they had an awesome cruise while the sitting in a lifeboat.
carsastic Posted November 18, 2013 #83 Share Posted November 18, 2013 aside from the laundry, perhaps the black jack not much more , but than again I don't use any of that or what was reduced so it had zero affect for me or family. we always over pack , and never used laundry , I love black jack but probably play most between 1am to closing I think its silly for people to be enraged to the point as some here about change in perk program. as far as someone who thinks its some what privileged or special to have a plat card.. I guess they don't get out much. I' m now a new member of AARP, been a loyal member of Sams club. perhaps I should flash those around? Seriously though I cant really think anyone would be that upset . I think its a weak attempt by them in posting negatives that's somehow carnival will take notice and change ..that would have perhaps worked some time ago but with big data, analytics companies can now see where it needs to put attentions too
breenw Posted November 18, 2013 #84 Share Posted November 18, 2013 Dont understand people running around telling everyone how many times they have cruised. We have done a bunch and see no reason to put it out there under my signature. I'm one of those people who lists our cruises and it's not for "bragging" rights. My husband and one of my sons have the same first name. A couple of years ago when my son was booking his honeymoon cruise, Carnival thought both my husband and my son were "one in the same person" even though our son is stationed in another state from where we live. They effectively wiped out my husband's cruise history and it had to be reconstructed again. For whatever reason, Carnival's computer system does not track middle names and I am sure that there are thousands of passengers who have family members with the same first and last name. They told me that this is a problem they have all the time and I'm surprised they haven't figured out a way to make sure this stuff doesn't happen to people. Now I make sure the list is somewhere that is easily accessible as proof in the event something like that ever happens again. As far as some of the other comments here, I know the canapes were discontinued because many people complained they didn't eat them. They always seemed to be delivered around early seating in the dining room and by the time you went back to your stateroom, you didn't know how long they had been sitting there unrefrigerated. To the earlier poster who commented on the free steakhouse meals and free passengers for achieving Diamond status - this is only a one time benefit. When they first made the changes to the programs, I didn't realize that the free stateroom upgrade or free 3/4/5th passenger benefit had a time limit. Fortunately, we found this out in time to take advantage of it on our next cruise in January. I enjoy the perks and benefits we get as Diamond members, but I would still sail no matter if we received these or not.

Seems to be when they give you a VIFP number should make it very easy to differentiate among customers with very similar names. If I was running Carnival would give perks to my frequent customers especially ones that really didnt cost anything. For example what is the cost of a special lunch for the Diamonds? Gotta give them lunch anyway.

This thread is about changes to the Plat/Diamond perks. I am happy to be able to respond to other posters, here on cruise critic and have no expectations that Carnival will change their policy. I'm sure you "flash" your AARP discount card when you want a discount you are entitled to. And that you "flash" your Sam's club card when you want to enter that store. Same thing. Silly, really. afrayedknot Posted November 18, 2013 #88 Share Posted November 18, 2013 Dont understand people running around telling everyone how many times they have cruised. We have done a bunch and see no reason to put it out there under my signature. I may put recent or upcoming cruises on my signature but took off the long last of past cruises- just too much TMI for me. However, I DO list the number of cruises so that when I ask a question, all those sweet helpful CCrs won't waste their time treating me like a newbie, or explain what a Carnival cruise is to me (#20 coming up.) I am so grateful for all the more experienced CCrs helping me out over the years and want others to benefit, as well... Pam
CRUZBUDS Posted November 18, 2013 #89 Share Posted November 18, 2013 I run my cruises horizontally to minimize scrolling :) If someone cares to see it, it's there, but it doesn't take up a lot of real estate. I have had nice conversations with folks who've been on the same ships as us --- especially in Roll Calls, not so much on the main boards I do think it adds some to credibility. Example, when someone on another board states that they hate Carnival or it is the Wal-Mart of cruising blah blah -- When you see in their signature that they've never sailed Carnival -- you know you can disregard their posts on the subject. (and just about anything else they opine on ;))

afrayedknot Posted November 18, 2013 #91 Share Posted November 18, 2013 Interesting. There are people here who posts their next 6 cruises here and wonder why it is necessary. I post future cruises because some people will say "I see you are sailing on ___ , let me know how ____ went." I also love to see what cruises are ahead. When I read of others heading to their cruises or their amazing experiences or threads about food, it easier to deal with, knowing I'll be cruising again soon. (Have always been a spur of the moment booker.) I think, with the number of cruises I've been on that my signature is on the compact side. silvercrikhix Posted November 18, 2013 #93 Share Posted November 18, 2013 (edited) OP: looks like you have your answer. They gained a couple nice perks and lost a couple others. It would not matter what the changes were, there would always be some people whining about it. The loyalty program for anything will ALWAYS change & evolve to increase profits. Secure, mature adults know this and are thankful for what little bonuses they get. Edited November 18, 2013 by silvercrikhix
afrayedknot Posted November 19, 2013 #94 Share Posted November 19, 2013 as a new level, they never had. I would gladly take the free steakhouse dinner and cruise upgrade over a lifetime of free entriees. I still have a stack of free entries I've never used. Added to both Platinum and Diamond since, on ships with FTTF, is priority luggage and cabin readiness. These also did not, at least officially, exist. I don't mind people paying to subsidize my benefits. :D Exactly. I don't care about laundry or casino entries. But the priority luggage and cabin readiness is more than welcomed by me... LOL I am impressed more by someone who is gifted with or learned manners, grace and humility. I seriously would burst out laughing if someone waved their Plat/Diamond card around spouting off and acting like they were important somehow! Sheeezzzzz. I have never seen anyone other than Stormin Norm acting like they were important because of their loyalty level. The only thing I miss other than the canapes is the free entry into the slot tournament, but I guess that there were so many Platinums that they weren't hardly making any money off the game.
