We stayed at Hyatt Place Westshore last Jan. It was clean and quiet. I think all rooms are suites and hAve separate living area with couch and kitchenette. We rented a car as we stayed 2 days prior and drove to visit my father who lives in Tampa area. My husband drove car back to the airport the morning of the cruise to drop it off and took free shuttle back to hotel. Then we all took shuttle to port...I think it was about $25 for the 6 in our group. I would recommend it.

I highly recommend staying in any Tampa hotel which is on or near the Tampa Riverwalk. This area is very scenic and 5 min to the port. From our hotel we walked out the back door to the Riverwalk. Wish I could remember the name! It may have been the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk. It is a stroll down the Riverwalk to the Channelside ( I believe ) area with lots of shops and nice restaurants. The aquarium is located there and it is very nice. They offer a free dolphin watch boat excursion which takes you out into Tampa Bay.

Check out Trip Advisor for Tampa hotels. The reviews will probably mention the Riverwalk and Channelside areas.

I just booked the Crown Plaza Westshore. Close to the airport. If you need a hotel for when you get back, they have a great deal. I booked a room for the night before my Dawn cruise, and with the special they have, was able to book a room for when we get back for free. I'll just be using it for the day though, because I have a late flight that evening. The special give you a free night as long as it's a week after your first stay. I'm checking in on Saturday and will be using the free night on Sunday when we get back. I checked with them and for the day we need it, I was told there would be no problem with an early check in when we get back. The total cost was $150 +tax for both days. Only a few dollars more than a reservation for one night, and is refundable. I figured we could use the pool, have lunch, and take a shower before our return flight. If it's raining there is a great mall across the street to spend a few hours. They also have a free shuttle to the airport, and anywhere within 3 miles.
