I'm in FLL waiting until time for the hotel shuttle to leave.. The flight was uneventful--everything on time. Did not check any luggage so went right to the hotel shuttle area and waited about 15 minutes on the Hampton inn North Cruiseport shuttle. Easy friendly check and my girlfriend and I were off to explore on foot.

 

There is a strip shopping center across the street. We went in Big Lots for mousse and had a great time "shopping" in the others. There is a Dollar Tree, Winn Dixie and it is also the location off Slackers Bar and Grill. It was packed because of the Packers game. We had one beer and it was so loud we left after that. By then it was 4 so we walked over to Old Heidelberg for some German food. We sat at the bar for an informal meal. The bartender was very friendly and explained all the food descriptions. The meal was excellent especially the white bean soup.

 

We came right back to the hotel and we're just exhausted since we had been up since 4 a.m. We fell asleep by 7:30 and slept until 6 a.m. The comp breakfast was very adequate.

 

When you check in be sure to go ahead and reserve the shuttle!

Glad everything went so well for you. We stay at the same hotel each time we cruise from Ft. Lauderdale and have always been pleased. That plaza is so handy for any last minute needs. And I have to agree with you: the food at Old Heidelberg is great!

It is 11:30 and the ship still has not been cleared for boarding. Check in for suite guests was fast.
