Child prices - Con!

I know that the third passenger price is not specifically a child price, as it can be used for a third adult in the room, but even so why would adding a third person mean the other two need to cost more?

And what is a 1 year old really going to take part in to justify basically paying £60 less for them than an adult who has so much more inclusive benefits to take advantage of (ie food and activities)

Seems such a con!

It is pretty simple from the owners of the ships point of view. When they planned the ships the cost of return on investment was mostly based on occupancy of the cabins. Double occupancy gets the company to the minimum desired cost. Adding one or more, if space is available, pays for the meals and other overhead costs for them.

The cruise line has no idea when planning a ship what the age makeup of the occupancy will be. Cabin occupancy is based on space available and number of spaces for "Souls on Board" on the lifeboats. A child is a Soul on Board for lifeboat purposes and is counted as such.

So prices are pretty much per person based on cabin and location. Not a Con - just pure business! One is not forced to cruise with a child - it is a personal, family decision.
