RCmommy Posted November 22, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2013 Hi Everyone, I have a cruise booked for next October with Carnival. I have changed to that cruise from one I had booked orginially. I am pretty sure my TA already thinks I am crazy. She may be right. As mentioned in another thread, we have been thinking about changing to another itinerary. Can I call Carnival and do this myself while still giving my TA the credit for it? It is transferring a reservation, not cancelling...so am I able? I know must of you will say it is the TAs job but I would like to do it myself if at all possible.......(there is always the possibility she will have to do it again down the road) haha

Any changes or questions of any kind will have to go through your TA.
Colorado Kat Posted November 22, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 22, 2013 That's the reason I like to book directly with Carnival, not thru a travel agent. She may get tired of changing reservations often, for just the one fee.

RCmommy Posted November 22, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted November 22, 2013 Man, that stinks. Now I will have to provide her with proof of my insanity.
arush5268d Posted November 22, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 22, 2013 You are stuck with your TA doing it.
RuthlessBoss Posted November 22, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 22, 2013 So, cancel the reservation with the TA. If you want to book a different cruise with Carnival on your own, do it.

arush5268d Posted November 22, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 22, 2013 Why you used a TA is beyond me. Pain in the bootay. I don't understand it but some people are very attached to their TA and swear that they save hundreds and hundreds of dollars using a TA. Here is how I see it: If you aren't comfortable using the internet and a computer ( and there are people out there that arent - mostly elderly people, and I'm not judging them) then a TA might be a good way to go. But your average computer user these days can doa better job for what THEY want instead of having to go through a TA.
golfadj Posted November 22, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 22, 2013 So, cancel the reservation with the TA. If you want to book a different cruise with Carnival on your own, do it. Works as long as the OP didnt book ES.
RuthlessBoss Posted November 22, 2013 #11 Share Posted November 22, 2013 Works as long as the OP didnt book ES. Maybe ES isn't in the picture, he/she has made no comment about fees for changes.
RCmommy Posted November 22, 2013 Author #12 Share Posted November 22, 2013 I used a TA for our first cruise because it was my family's first and I needed her guidance. She is a great lady and I realize she is likely not getting any great deal for us versus what I could find online. I am just hesitant to change our cruise again because I feel guilty for doing so. RCmommy Posted November 22, 2013 Author #13 Share Posted November 22, 2013 We did not book ES so there is no charges. I will call and change it with her. I just hoped it was something I could do myself.
Peg_S Posted November 23, 2013 #14 Share Posted November 23, 2013 ... Now I will have to provide her with proof of my insanity. You're funny!!! Don't worry, if your TA gets tired of your changes - she'll just block your calls!!!! Just kidding!! Have a GREAT cruise, wherever and whenever you go!!! cjknox Posted November 23, 2013 #16 Share Posted November 23, 2013 (edited) Man, that stinks. Now I will have to provide her with proof of my insanity. That's what TA's are there for. ;) Seriously though, save yourself all the hassle and in the future book directly with the cruise line. It's just so much more simple to do it directly. RCmommy Posted November 28, 2013 Author #19 Share Posted November 28, 2013 I went ahead and called our TA to change our booking. Now that I have more cruise "experience" I will feel more confident as I book our next myself. Thanks for all the information provided.
Vitamin_Sea Posted November 28, 2013 #20 Share Posted November 28, 2013 You have no choice. You need to deal with the TA. The TA made your res.
OCruisers Posted November 28, 2013 #21 Share Posted November 28, 2013 Not all travel agents are created equally. Having a good one is wonderful and I remain in total control of my cruise ... never have had a problem making a change promptly. LuLu ~~~~
