cjb137 Posted November 24, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2013 Got to terminal and on boat in under 90 minutes. Have not left dock yet due to high winds. Expecting to leave at 1030. Glad we are waiting on the boat then in terminal. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
MarkSeattle Posted November 24, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2013 Wow, still see you there on the port cam. Not good luck with the weather at the new terminal so far. Have a great cruise. I'll be on next week.
trabeler Posted November 24, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 24, 2013 I'm also onboard now waiting for departure. Hopefully these types of delays don't become a trend. If every time it is foggy or windy they have trouble with the Bayport terminal, I'd think cruise lines would reconsider using this port. It would sure be a shame since Bayport is close to home and it is a pretty nice terminal with super close parking. MarkSeattle Posted November 24, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 24, 2013 Yeah. I used to live and work in Clear Lake; the dense fog could be a problem sometimes. We don't see it up inside the loop to nearly that extent, but I don't remember if it was seasonal or year round.
kellor Posted November 24, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 24, 2013 These weather delays are becoming concerning...this is the 3rd week in a row that we have heard about a problem. Plus, I heard it only gets worse in January....just when we are boarding.

Cruzin-K Posted November 24, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 24, 2013 The CB is still docked in Houston (Bayport). It's just about 11:00 p.m. I'll be on the ship next Sat. Sure hope we don't have the same delays, but as long as I'm on the ship and not at work for a week, it's all good :D

MarkSeattle Posted November 24, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 24, 2013 At 12:30, still in port according to MarineTraffic and Bayport webcam, Princess webcam claims it is enroute. She's still docked at almost 1am. See her on the port webcam and marinetraffic. Guess they don't have a harbor pilot wanting to take her out so late, I think the winds have died down... Jumper72 Posted November 24, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 24, 2013 Yes, a bit after 1:00am. All the land based line handlers have left for the evening. Its looking like a sunday morning departure. This cost Princess thousands in lost revenue not having all the bars, shops and casino open. I know it saved me a bunch....lol Hope to be sailing soon. cubfan63 Posted November 24, 2013 #11 Share Posted November 24, 2013 We sailed at 8:15 pm on 11/16 (after the fog delayed the ship arrival) and lost a few hours in Cozumel, arriving at 10:30 am rather than 8 am. Based on this, if the ship doesn't leave until Sunday morning, you may lose Cozumel completely.
djh Posted November 24, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 24, 2013 After 6 am and we are still at the terminal. Cozumel is not looking good. I wonder if the Bayport Terminal is jinxed?
MBandJSinUK Posted November 24, 2013 #13 Share Posted November 24, 2013 We are on the CB too, still in Bayport and not too much movement on the dock to suggest that we are likely to go soon... Not a great start to the cruise but hey!
trabeler Posted November 24, 2013 #14 Share Posted November 24, 2013 7 am now and it still looks quiet on the pier. People asking at guest services about when we'll leave are being told "the captain will make an announcement soon".... Glad we are waiting on the boat then in terminal. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2 Thanks for letting the board know. What an unexpected development this is. Was it actually windy at Bayport or is the Captain reacting to conditions out at sea? Did he keep you all informed or have you been left wondering about an ETD? How was it onboard the ship last night regarding meals, entertainment, alcohol? I know the Casino wouldn't have opened. My heart goes out to all of you onboard and I hope that you sail soon and have a fantastic issue-free cruise from here on out. trabeler Posted November 24, 2013 #16 Share Posted November 24, 2013 8:30 am and captain just announced that we still can't leave. Problem is 35 knot winds and the narrow Bayport channel. He says that even with thrusters and two tugs, Princess and the port pilots do not think this safe to transit the narrow canal. We will stay in place until the winds subside. No word on any itinerary changes, but at this point it is obvious we'll end up skipping at least one port. Casino and shops are still closed and some bars can't open due to Texas liquor laws. You also can't order bottles of wine in the dining rooms, just by the glass. All other shipboard activities continue as normal, but it's still too chilly for most on deck activities (it's about 45F this morning). MarkSeattle Posted November 24, 2013 #17 Share Posted November 24, 2013 Bummed for you all. MarineTraffic shows Belize as your next destination, so the poster above seems to be correct about missing Cozumel. Still can't see anything going on at the pier. CruisinChris Posted November 24, 2013 #18 Share Posted November 24, 2013 I believe these kinds of "operational" issues are why Princess had abandoned sailing from Texas for a few years. Enjoy your cruise.
Casey12 Posted November 24, 2013 #19 Share Posted November 24, 2013 I hope the ship leaves soon. So sorry for all those who are on the ship.
Cruzin-K Posted November 24, 2013 #20 Share Posted November 24, 2013 I was quite disappointed to see her still docked when I woke up this morning. If any port gets missed on my cruise next week I'd much rather it be Cozumel than Belize or Honduras which are both new (to me) ports. I can get to Coz anytime :(
dude_hdt Posted November 24, 2013 #21 Share Posted November 24, 2013 The wind on deck isn't nearly the level yesterday. Local airport hourly measurement is lower than what we were told. The ship was also leaning a bit more on embarkation yesterday compared to today. Some 'facilities' on the ship wasn't functional yesterday evening and other places still weren't working (second and first hand experience) which leads to questions if it is more than just wind keeping us in port. Other than those few in incidences, we're enjoying our time onboard so far.
djh Posted November 24, 2013 #22 Share Posted November 24, 2013 I believe these kinds of "operational" issues are why Princess had abandoned sailing from Texas for a few years. Enjoy your cruise. Our theory is that the ship is stuck. Our room steward says that they are waiting for high tide to try ( around 10 am). If that is the case this port has a real problem. Also, if marine traffic is showing Belize as next port that means we will miss Cozumel AND Roatan. Houston...... We have a problem.
dude_hdt Posted November 24, 2013 #23 Share Posted November 24, 2013 If there is a port to miss, I'd rather miss Belize. Captain said new iteniary will be available when we do leave port.

SapphireHoneymoon Posted November 24, 2013 #25 Share Posted November 24, 2013 Wow. How frustrating. Especially assuming you are already missing two ports. Hope you leave sooner rather than later.
