FTTF Worth it?

Going on the Dream in June and was wondering if Faster to the Fun is really worth it? We have 2 rooms booked and I really don't know if I should spend the extra $100. I know you can get on the ship earlier but are the other perks good enough to justify the additional cost? Please give me your opinions...thanks

For us, on our recent Miracle cruise in November, it was SO worth it.

We loved the priority embarkation, tendering in port and also, the priority self disembarkation....it was worth the $50 to us.

It wouldn't be worth it to me - but from what I've read, most people love it. One reason to get it would be if you have carry-on items that are heavy or bulky (say if you are carrying on the max. allowed amount of wine and soda/water), so you could get to your cabin earlier. Typically you cannot get into your cabin until 1:30. Also if you have younger children this may be worth it, to drop off their stuff or if they need to take a nap, etc. Also, as the above poster said, tender ports such as Grand Cayman - you may have quite a while to wait for your time to get off the ship, so if you are needing or wanting to get to shore early, this would be worth it.

 

I just wait to board, wait to get to my cabin, and wait my turn if I have a tender port. It is not a huge deal to me. YMMV.

YES! Definitely. On previous cruises, we've had to lug carry on stuff around until sometimes past 2:30 or 3:00. It is definitely worth it to put the heavy stuff away in the cabin and then move around unencumbered.

We bought it & LOVED it! We arrived at the port & was on the ship by 11. Luggage was delivered & we had everything put away & was sitting in the hot tub while people were talking about how they wished their luggage would hurry & get to them or how they wished they could get in their cabin.

Had to go to Guest Services several times & was promptly helped. We didn't have any tender ports, so can't comment on that, but we have already purchased FTTF for next years trip which does have one!

I say its not worth it. Especially if you have to do 2 cabins.

 

Save the money for something else.

Thank you everyone...there have been a lot of good pros and cons. But I'm still undecided. We do have to tender once but all I can think about is that the $100 can be better spent somewhere else. Sounds to me that I am talking myself out of it....I guess I'll have to sleep on it. Thanks again!

So, you have one tender to deal with. What is the big rush anyway?

I doubt that would be worth spending $100 bucks on.

The only tender port on that cruise is Belize at 8:00 AM. Are you really going to get up at 6:00 AM to get dressed and have breakfast so you can be on the first tender at 8:00 AM? Besides, if you book an excursion you will get priority over the FTTF people. And...If you book a snorkel excursion you will be picked up right off the ship and not tender into port at all.

We used it on our last cruise and loved it, but we're undecided if we'll do it again this year because our circumstances are totally different. The reasons we did it last year included:

 

• 
  Dropping off luggage in our cabins
  Traveling with kids, we wanted to get them settled
  We brought on soda and water and wanted to drop it off
  Getting on early so we could get the cabana we wanted on HMC (this was the main reason!)
  

 

We did really enjoy getting through the lines much faster and by getting on early we felt like we had the ship to "ourselves" for a bit and had a leisurely lunch.

I loved it. I will by it every time, as long as I can. We didn't have a tender port (Belize, but had a ship excursion) and it was worth the $ just getting on right away, having our room ready, and getting our luggage right away. This time we are going to HMC, so it was really important to get it. It opened out at about 100 days out so we were lucky.

Keep in mind, you really only have to do buy it for one room. You can drop every thing you carry on the ship in the one room. As far a luggage, make sure you put the tags for the room you purchase the FTF with the luggage items you need ASAP. Then it's only $49.99 ;)

I feel the tendering is the best part of FTTF, next is embarkation.

We have had suites that entitled us to having the FTF benefits and absolutely would not pay more for that as an add on

Being in a suite only gives you priority boarding. FTTF provides several more benefits.

Nahh, they could sleep in 'til 7:30am, head down to Guest Services, invoke FttF and be escorted to the next available tender.

 

It's Belize, arguably one of the worst tender ports in the world since ships have to anchor miles away from the docks. For THAT tender port, FttF is a no-brainer.

 

Besides, if you book an excursion you will get priority over the FTTF people.

 

So....they could spend a lot more than $100 on an excursion to save that $100?

 

Also, not every excursion would qualify, right? Late-starting excursions might not qualify for priority tendering.

 

To the OP, if you're still not sure, go ahead and book it. You can always cancel it later if you decide you don't want to spend the money and that way you keep the option open in case it sells out.

To me, so NOT worth it. I could have bought it for our cruise in Aug on the Liberty, but did not. My reasons are:

 

1) Embarkation - the ship was very late being released from the prior cruise which meant that embarkation was delayed until 1:30 or so for the Platinums and FTTF. We were not that far behind and our room was ready when we got on.

2) When we were ready to go to HMC, which was early, we went to the lounge, got our tender number, and only had to wait 5 minutes for it to be called.

3) We only went to guest services once, and chose to go when the line was short.

 

So I feel that the money would have been a waste.

 

The majority on cruise critic may think it worthwhile, but the majority of cruisers likely does not.

Depends on your cruise. Will there be tenders? Will you be getting to the port early? Bringing a lot of carry-ons with you. FTTF being "worth it" really depends on you.

Not worth it to me. We just sailed the Dream in September and the Platinum/FTTF people boarded a whole 15 mins before our zone was called and we were zone 23. We didnt have any tender ports and the rooms were ready before 1:30. Save your $50.

Would you like to drop your carry-ons first thing or lug them around the ship? Would you like your checked bags expressed? Would you like to bypass the general line at guest services? Would you like priority tendering? Do you plan to get off the ship early? (maybe early flight or drive home?) Then the answer would be yes!!!
