Thanksgiving on the Legend, Chef's Table & More

DH and I just returned from Thanksgiving week on the Legend. Fabulous ship and cruise. We had a 9A Premium Balcony cabin #5243. This is one of only a few large cabin configurations on the Legend (& sister ships) behind the elevators. Absolutely no noise from the elevators, never heard anyone actually, so quietest cabin ever. Would highly recommend it. Cabin was very large, looked like a suite, but the balcony was long and narrow and not so easy to move around on. Only the two of us, so not a big deal. We are already booked on the Pride for next Thanksgiving week in the same cabin type - I have photos from another Pride cruiser and it's the same as what we just had and the balcony is wider.

Chef's Table was wonderful and again, would highly recommend it. 8 courses, with appetizers and champagne during the galley tour at the beginning. Our Chef explained everything. Dinner was elegant with lots of wait staff taking care of us. I loved every course except the one with yellow fin tuna - I'm not a sushi eater, so I gave that to DH. By dessert, we were all stuffed. Lovely time.

Ship is in great shape. Crew was very nice. Our only complaint, besides the weather and Carnival certainly doesn't control that, was that our main dining room wait staff were not very attentive. DH and I always try to get a table for 2 because after 30 cruises, we are sick of small talk with strangers during meals. The wait staff seemed more interested in the people at the large tables, even though the passengers at one of the tables never came to dinner before 6:45pm every night! How rude was that. We used to go on cruises where the dining room doors were closed at 6:15. Anyway, our waiters lost out on extra tips from us because they left dirty plates in front of us sometimes for 15 minutes. We left without dessert twice because we got tired of waiting for it to come.....it was a long time we waited, too. No apologies the next night either.

We had room service for breakfast every morning and for several lunches. Great job - very timely and the food was good. Would recommend it.

Casino was fun and I earned just under 6,000 points. Reached the 1,500 points needed for free drinks in the casino on the second day:eek: We did a meet and greet and a slot pull on the first at sea day and had fun.

Weather was awful, but we are no longer sun bathers, so didn't care in the least. It was cold leaving Tampa, but it warmed up in Grand Cayman. Cooler in Cozumel and I don't recall what it was in Belize. The big disappointment with weather was in Roatan. I woke up early and went out on the balcony only to find fog so thick you couldn't see 100 feet off the ship and it was pouring rain. It rained the whole day, so Roatan was literally a washout. We were looking forward to it because the last time there, the ship couldn't dock because of high winds. Maybe the 3rd time next year will be the charm.

Great cruise and we loved the Legend.

The Cruise Director was a Canadian named Brent, I think. Didn't see him very much.

DH and I had a table for two, so we ordered and ate as we pleased. All the late women were at the same table and they were waited on as they arrived. Felt sorry for the wait staff having to cater to their rude customers.

We cruise on the Legend the week before you and lucked out on weather. Sorry you were not as lucky.

We did ATD and sat in the same section (Fernando) at a table for 2 every night (except formal night). We did had to wait 10 minutes, twice, to get a table but we didn't mind waiting. Like we, we prefer to skip the small chat.

Fernando and his assistants are the best ever! I went solo and the MDR experience was like the good old days with Fernando!

OP, if you have pics of your cabin please post them on cruisedeckplans. They have only 2 very dark shots that don't really show the cabin well.

I was on Legend for Halloween and had a fabulous time! Brent was a bore. Not very engaging at all. He even managed to mess us the Marriage game.

I found the food to be vastly improved over what it had been--new chef was on board and it made all the difference!
