Casino on Emerald

So what can we expect

Old machines ,,,...very tight ....small

Waste of time and money or something else

Never been lucky on Princess ...boohoo

We have sailed the Emerald several times and found it like most casinos...some hit and some don't. The lady sitting next to me hit $5K on a penny slot machine in Feb, so I suppose she and I have different "opinions" about payouts! LOL ;)

I CAN tell you I spent a lot of time on the machines, and played a lot of their money for entertainment value, so I have no complaints.

Just got off.. we had a couple of people hit on the machines.. one for 3k and one for 1k..but then again it's a casino and I'm sure the "house" odds are always in favor..just go to have fun.

My husband played blackjack and the dealers were hitting face cards so he finally gave up a few days in..

First they are not run by Princess. They are contracted out to an independant gaming house. Secondly because they only operate in international waters they are not regulated like land based casinos. There is no mandated payout rate like you will find in Vegas or here in Alberta Canada for that matter where our provincal governmant says it is 92%. Technically here you should get 92 cents back for every dollar invested. Of course that is the average over thousands of spins and you could watch $100 evaporate and then I could sit down at the same machine and win it all on my first spin.

The payouts on ships are lower for sure. The machines can be reset easily. Crank up the payout level at the start of the cruise as a "loss leader" to get them in the doors and dial it down as the cruise continues. Leave the odd machine at a higher payout rate just to give the masses hope.

Just off the Golden two weeks ago and there was a mix of machines. Some newer quick hit ones and some really older ones like Texas Tea that has been around for at least 10 years. I would expect the Emerald to be the same considering the same company runs it.

Hope you have a good run and yes it is entertainment and not a 401K fund.

Just off the Emerald recently .

More penny machines than others it seemed.

Not enough quarter machines for me.

Very tight spaces and with the exception of a very small non smoking area in a corner , not a pleasant experience for a non-smoker.

A couple of smoke free nights after 6pm .

Just off the Emerald a week ago and did the Royal Princess on 11/10. Played the slots in both casinos, mostly penny slots. The Royal, being a new ship, was full of the newer slot machines but was extremely tight. I do think some people won. The Emerald only had a few newer machines. There is a large empty space in the middle near in front of the bar that I seem to remember from earlier cruises had a lot of slots that were no longer there. Just pretty empty. They had some really old slots like Denver Duck. I actually won a few hundred dollars on a quarter machine, but very little on the penny machines. Was up about $300 for the cruise. Most was won on the 3rd and 2nd to last night. Nothing first night, nothing last night. The 2 most popular machines were the ones for the dragon bonus and the orb bonus. Hard to get any time on either one. I really wish the casino people would upgrade this casino as they need more and better and newer slots. Even though I love Denver Duck and a few of the older slots. No one was playing the quick hit slots.

Can you name some of the penny slots ..Cleopatra? Treasuresof troy?instant rich ?extra ?bombay ...any??

I'm sorry, I don't pay much attention to the names of the machines, I recognize them by sight mostly. And I don't recall the ones you have named . The following is what I remember as best I can, it isn't the best but maybe will help you a bit.

Hmmm. I think the machines I mentioned earlier were Dragon King II or something like. Denver Duck. Go Sam. Some Hot Pennys - the one with the jems and mining. Some of the Quick Hits. Reels 'O Doublin and variations on that theme. They really didn't have much new. They had the penguin slide thing. All that Glitters and the bomb one next to it. Big Cheese Caper. One of the dollar machines was wheel of fortune. They had four of the Big Oh - may have been something other than "big" I really can't remember but it would say "thank you for playing the Big Oh" or whatever after the bonus. Lots of the old style butterfly and 7s machines without bonuses. A new one I played was Jubilee, there were 2 other similar ones. A lot of the old machines have been there since I first sailed the Emerald when the ship was new. There was a new panda machine. If you are looking for a specific one, name it and I will try to remember if I saw it.

If you review the odds/payouts, available on line, you will find that Craps has the best odds! Not that you cannot lose you @#!, but I seem to hold my own. That is until I start to play odds and a lot of other combinations and forget what I am doing.

But the kids are not getting it!:D

I love Cleopatra ...Treauresof Troy .Instant rich ..Extra any of those??Siberian storm

bombay.,cleopatra 2

I think the Royal had those, but I don't think the Emerald did. Maybe a Siberian Storm as I remember winning bunch on that one last year, but it could have been on the Grand or Caribbean Princess. I really do wish they would upgrade/update the casino on the Emerald.

Just off the Emerald and I found most of the slots to be the old ones (sorry, can't remember the names) With just a few newer ones. My DH hit a video poker machine for $2,000 the last night. I do have to say I was very disappointed in the service in the casino on the Emerald. We played for over and hour one night w/o being asked if we wanted a drink. I finally went to the bar and got my own drink. DH was finally asked and he ordered a diet coke, but the server never came back with it. I was playing the quick hit machines right inside the door when a family (mom, dad, and grown daughter) came in... the server couldn't get there fast enough to welcome them and bring them all drinks. Then he stood around with his tray on his hip chatting with them for over a half hour. This is the only area of the entire ship where I felt service was poor.
