Having sailed on just about every cruise line there is.......I have never come across such a deal.

Please tell us the name of the ship !

What company ? I'm interested

Nieuw Amsterdam.

Cabins from $499 pp. Choose any (category and location). Add $125 for Hydropool & Thermal suite, $125 if you want to have dinner in a specialty restaurant every night, proper afternoon tea ceremony is free, "top sail" lounge is free, sun decks are huge and free. Spectacular wrap-around promenade as a bonus.

In comparison - a private yacht.

And 4% it's depend of level occupancy it vary form 5-10%

The rest (96%) of cabins vary in occupacy as well.

The whole ship varies, not only YC 4%.:)

No variations as we speak of percentage.

It's a number of cabins (double occupancy).

~4%.

I'm soooooo keen to try the yacht club! We are sailing in July next year and have an aft balcony cabin which apparently has a VERY small balcony. The yacht club is double what we have paid for this cabin and I'm having trouble talking MrKat into it as he get sharp pains in his wallet when I start talking about it. I, on the other hand, think it's money well spent and I have no trouble at all swanning around in exclusive luxury whilst those who have opted not to spend the extra are 'slumming' it!

We are from NZ so we aren't familiar with tipping, except when travelling, and we aren't fussed about bottled water. I never use washcloths and if they were that critical to my happiness I'd bring my own.

However if I can't get a decent cup of tea when I wake up there will be gnashing and wailing of teeth! :p

Actually, facetious replies aside, the first time I travelled internationally I had a complete meltdown in a hotel in Rome when I found our room didn't have a kettle. The only redeeming factor was that I only cried gales of tears at my husband - I didn't abuse any hotel staff. In my defense, I had flown 12 hours from NZ to Los Angeles then another 12 hours to London then six hours to Rome via Brussels. I was jet lagged and completely exhausted!

My husband took years to let me forget that immature outburst and I was very ashamed of myself and will never ever do that again. I travel knowing things are going to be very different to what I'm used to and that I may spend quite a bit of time outside my comfort zone - and this has become a facet of travel that I most look forward to!

Would that be deck 13? I had a cabin in the same place on the Fantasia and I loved it. The views in port are amazing and at sea the wake is mesmerising.

If you are on deck 13, there is a 'private' staircase either end of the corridor which leads directly to the buffet above - where there is 24 hr tea, coffee and water.

Continuing up, is the quieter and hence more exclusive aft pool and bar area - thankfully devoid of noisy entertainment. Together, I termed these the 'poor man's Yacht Club' because there are so close together and, apart from dining, there is little need to go anywhere else.

Off course they spend more for one thing is it's all include so they have the mind set I can indulge. And it usually people that have more "free" money to spend if you book as 2k cabin plus air fare this does not include excursion spa gift off all kind speciality restaurant high end boos casino it's that you have money to burn you work hard all year this is you threat.

Compare to inside cabin where they question if is as good value to take a 30$ as day drinking package ... One couple in yatch club can spend 3-4, cabin worth of inside cabin .... So business wise its make sense to protect and cultivate this big customer .

But again "american " do like to face with the reality that some people will not be treated equally it's the same complain we ear in airports with the priorities boarding Frist class we always ear "its not fare I've been here for 45 min and that guys is already in the plane he waited only 3 min to get in" for me this statement is so funny ...

When funds are tighter than one would prefer, one makes decisions based on priorities. On my next cruise,

cost of suite = cost of inside + Allegrissimo

If I had a suite but no Allegrissimo, I would be more inclined to stay in my suite and appreciate it and its balcony perhaps with some smuggled drinks from ports of call. With Allegrissimo, my inside cabin becomes a place in which to sleep, wash and change only. The rest of the time I will be out and about mixing with other people or appreciating different part of the ship instead.

Choices like these inevitably impact on the type of cruise experience one has. I chose the RHS of the equation.

It has been argued elsewhere that Yacht Club guests really should have Allegrissimo included as by only giving them included drinks in the Yacht Club areas has the effect of restricting them to those areas, more so than otherwise would be the case. I agree for the same reason as above. Luxury and exclusivity go a long way but if you feel disinclined to leave them then they become a self-imposed prison.

I have always described the main benefit of Allegrissimo as 'freedom of the ship' and this applies just as much to Yacht Club guests as to we lowly 'insiders'.

P.S. The combination of

inside cabin + Allegrissimo + business class flights paid for with points

I find, optimises value for money.

Tim.
