Riviera evening show times

Going on the Riviera to the Caribbean this winter. Does anyone know the times of the evening entertainment? Is it the same every night? Trying to plan dinner around the shows. I know they are not known for their entertainment but thought I would try for myself. Any comments on the various acts will be appreciated. Also if you know the schedule of the entertainment in the bars that would be great too. I was told they don't know the schedule until right before the cruise. Thought I would ask those experienced cruisers.

The Main Show changes each evening, but the pattern of events remains the same.

 

There will be dancing in the Main Show-Lounge starting from 7 or 7:30 PM, followed by the Show itself at 8:30 or 8:45 PM. Those shows change every night and last from an hour to an hour and a half.

 

After the show, the dancing transfers up to Horizons, where there will be a Combo or a DJ until about midnight.

 

As far as the other venues are concerned, a Pianist plays nightly, and throughout the evening in the Martini Lounge, and the String Quartet will give an hour's concert every other evening or so in the Grand Bar.

So what time would you make dinner reservations? wow things seem a little early. Was thinking more like 9 or 9:30. Thanks for the info. Do you have any shows you do think are worth seeing?

Perhaps the schedule is different for Caribbean sailings. But for our past three sailings on Riviera in Europe and our most recent on Marina two months ago, the show times changed very little. Most often they were at 9:30 or 9:45 PM.

 

In total for our four cruises, I can only remember walking out of a show one time. While we haven't been completely blown away at all of the shows, we can truly say that we have been entertained while having our after dinner drink. It is a nice place to go to relax after dinner. The production shows are bright, colorful, and lively. And some of the single guest entertainers do a good job as well.

 

We take at least two trips per year to NYC to catch up on Broadway entertainment. I think that perhaps sometimes the entertainment on Oceania takes a larger hit than it should. Is it Broadway? No. However, I am not spending an extra $250+ per show on Oceania for two seats as we do in NYC.

 

For a 9:45 show, we have found that 8 PM in GDR works. However, for Specialty restaurants, we prefer a reservation a bit earlier than 8 PM for the 9:45 show. And if the show was at 9:30, we got to GDR a bit after 7:30.

All of our cruises the shows in the main lounger were 9:45pm sometime 9:30pm once or twice they did have a special show at 8Pm but this was the exception

String quartet plays from about 6:30pm to 9pm in the GRAND Bar (hallway) on the O class ships or near the shops on the R-class ships

They also play during afternoon tea 4-5PM in Horizons

Martinis have a piano player in the evenings ..not sure of the hrs

Also some entertainment in Horizons from 10:30 pm

On our trip all shows were at 9:30. There was just one each night. There was a night when it was a deck party which might of been a different time, I do not remember.

Yep, 9:30 or 9:45; Jim is still on Daylight Savings Time :D. Shows run about 45 minutes. After 10:30, ship starts to turn into a ghost town, except for some stalwarts at Martinis and a few in the Casino. Occasionally there is a semi-crowd in Horizons, but almost everything is wrapped up by Midnight.

Thanks so much. We will see if we are some of the few that stay up past 10:30. It is the Caribbean so our shore excursions are not a full day of sight seeing/walking so we will have more energy.

Without too much effort we got to re-live our youth and shut down the bars on several occasions. Enjoy your vacation and the occasional wild & crazy night :)
