Taxi

If you get a Belize registered taxi, the driver is probably trust worthy. However, there's not a lot to "drive around" and see in the city. Belize City is a working city not a major tourist desitination. A good walking tour--also relatively safe dispite the fearmongering on these boards related to the tour hawkers directly outside the tender pier gates--will get you the major sites--St John's Angelican Church, the Cultural Museum (old Governors Mansion), Brodie's General Store, the embassies, a couple of art musuems, and the lighthouse/promenade. All along major streets and all within 2 miles of the pier. Plus there are some excellent local restaurants within 5 blocks of the pier for good eating.

Best to use a taxi if heading tot he airport or zoo or Old Belize City(Cucumber Beach) but not needed for a drive by tour.
